The Contracted Bride's Tale
"You don't love me, James. This isn't love. This is obsession, and it's not healthy. You need help."
"I don't need help, Katie. I just need you," he said, his eyes dark and intense.
I knew that I needed to get away, but I also knew that I couldn't outrun him. I needed to find a way to fight back. "You need to stop, James. Right now."
But he didn't stop. Instead, he lunged at me, his hands reaching for my throat.
I instinctively brought up my hands to defend myself and pushed him away, using the self-defense moves I had learned in my classes. James stumbled backward, surprised at my sudden action.
