Elara’s POV Selene held the blade between us and the torchlight showed the dark liquid on it and my chest tightened because I knew what it meant. She lifted it a little and looked pleased with herself. “This isn’t just silver,” she said, “it’s coated with something that will shut your body down fast. You won’t get a chance to scream.” Eren stepped forward but I pulled him behind me and held his arm tight. His breathing was loud and shaky but he didn’t hide. He kept looking at Selene like he wanted to stand in front of me and I pressed his hand because I needed him to stay still.

He gently rubbed her back as he tried to calm her down, “Selene, calm down, okay. You don’t have to accept me as your mate right away. I know that I messed up big time. But please, don’t push me away. For the few days I have stayed with you, I have realized that I can’t really live without you.” After Selene calmed down, she pushed Killian away, “Enough, stop clinging to me.” She was about to sit down when Killian noticed a faint glow on her chest. He pointed at it and asked, “What is that, and why is it glowing?” Selene loosened her blouse and showed Killian the Lunar Crest on her chest. It was in the shape of the crescent moon, and it was glowing slightly like a moon about to come to life.

“Wh… what does that mean?” Aldrich whispered, voice full of dread: “It’s not a birthmark. It’s a seal. A lock.
