I think it finally clicked for me. The main thing is to stick with the web page, not the email method which I find less reliable.

First, I always check the file format because that's the easiest trip-up. Amazon says they accept MOBI, but they're actually phasing it out for their newer format. So I convert anything questionable to EPUB or PDF using Calibre on my laptop before I even open the browser. That saves a ton of frustration later.

Then, I open the Send to Kindle page and just drag the file straight into the box. The progress bar is pretty clear. You have to make sure you pick the right device from the drop-down list if you have multiple Kindles registered to your account. I've sent books to my old Kindle Paperwhite by mistake before, which was annoying.

The confirmation email takes a minute or two to arrive. If I don't see the book pop up on my Kindle after that, I'll toggle the Wi-Fi off and on from the device settings, which usually forces a sync. It's not instant, but it's far faster than emailing attachments.

Kindle's email upload page is surprisingly flexible, honestly. They've quietly expanded beyond just MOBI. From my last upload, I caught that EPUB files are the new primary format, which is huge—no more converting files. PDFs work too, but the formatting can get a bit janky, especially with footnotes. You can also attach images like JPG or PNG, but they'll be treated as documents, not galleries. I tried sending a comic as a series of PNGs once... didn't go great. The webpage itself is pretty straightforward—just a drag-and-drop zone and that one email address you never remember. It's less about fancy features and more about getting your files to your library without a third-party app. I still miss the old MOBI reliability sometimes, though.

Kindle supports MOBI and AZW3 natively, but newer models also handle EPUB with conversion. Whichever method you choose, organizing your ebooks becomes effortless once you get the hang of it.
