Mara’s POV The air was thick with smoke, the scent of scorched stone and the tang of blood overwhelming my senses. Every nerve in my body was on fire, every heartbeat a drum of warning. My wolf surged beneath my skin, raw and untamed, her claws itching to tear, to defend, to annihilate. I could feel Dresden’s presence behind me, solid and unwavering, a shield that radiated strength, but even he was tense, his amber eyes burning as he tracked the shadowed elder’s movements with lethal precision.

“Save us, Jess!” Selene’s spectral form flared, her violet spells erupting in a storm of light, blasting Sylvara’s vines, her voice a fierce vow, her loyalty unyielding. “Jessica, you’re the nexus! Fight for all worlds!” She hurled a radiant spear at Vorath’s tendrils, but Vynia’s threads pierced her chest, her light dimming, her cry raw. “We’re with you!”

Mars did smell like a wolf, but she also smelled like Fedora, and I was intrigued by them. They're sirens; don't fall for their charms, Kate said immediately. The light now felt less like a storm and more like a firm, burning thing. The night before we left, Mara brought me a dress. It wasn't a sparkling ballgown. It was made of deep forest green silk, long and flowing. It was simple but rich, the color of Fenris's eyes and his Pack's secret woods. As I put it on, I felt less like a rejected Omega and more like a weapon dressed in silk. Mara handed me a simple silver necklace. “This will protect your Mark, Luna. It hides some of the power, so you can save it for when you really need it.”

I turned to face the menacing faces of Lucas' men, their eyes filled with a twisted sense of power. "Gotcha," one of them sneered, tightening his hold on my arm. I struggled, but their grip was unyielding. They dragged me through the wreckage, towards the heart of darkness itself, Alpha Lucas. As we approached Lucas, his piercing gaze met mine. The Alpha exuded an aura of dominance, his presence commanding and intimidating. I could see the bloodlust in his eyes, the hunger for power that had driven him to destroy my village. "Welcome, little lamb," Lucas growled, his voice sending shivers down my spine.

She slowed the car, the tires crunching over gravel as they approached. Mara shifted in her seat, her eyes scanning the surroundings. She noticed the strange energy around the place, a heavy, oppressive feeling that radiated power, the kind an Alpha carried with him wherever he went. Fuck. Ronan can’t be spoiling my plan like this, she thought to herself, her pulse quickening slightly. “Why are you adjusting that way?” Selene asked, glancing sideways and bringing Mara back from her thoughts. Mara forced a smile, awkward and quick. “It’s nothing.”
