The naughty boys back in their youth won’t dare crack a joke at her expense. Tess noticed his telling smile and asked what could be so funny that he couldn’t contain his grin. Hugh welcomely took her question, responding by letting it out and turning his smile into a laugh. Then he threw the punchline he’d been damn wanting to release. “They must be calling you ‘Lord of the Jungle Greens’.” While trying to keep the seriousness in her face upon entering the room, the punchline caused her to give in to the sudden lightness of the mood in the room. She acknowledged, “That’s not a bad joke, Hugh. You have sharpened your sense of humor I guess.”

Harry responded. There were some moments of silence. “Well, tell me the joke Sidney, I wanna be in”. Another round of grumble blessed my ears and when the complaining words ended with that tone of annoyance mixed with sarcasm, I cracked up again and harder. “Emotional and you?? Good joke.” I laughed while holding my stomach. “Haha, very funny…” sarcasm dropped off the words as N spoke. “I know, right!!” I teased, breathing between the good laugh I have just right now. This seems fun some times. Suddenly a thought surrounded my mind and I couldn’t help but smile only at some memories that were similar to this and certainly were the best of the times of my life. He replied cordially with a simple smile. I was about to thank him for understanding where I was coming from when my brain replied what it said. Tears gathered at the corner of my eyes and my belly hurt from laughing so much but I couldn’t bring myself to stop. This was exactly the joke I needed to get out of the terrible mood I was in. The dark humor was so perfectly Jaxx that I couldn't help but laugh. I burst out laughing, the sound bright against the lingering tension in the room. The absurdity of his grim humor never failed to catch me off guard, to remind me that beneath the violence and the control, there was a man who made me laugh in the darkest moments.
