From the deepest corners of the room, the shadows squirmed, answering my call. I pressed the jagged blade against the palm of my hand, exerting the slightest amount of pressure. The stinging pain was numbed from the cold, and I watched as my blood pooled in my hand. I couldn’t help but notice Tristan’s mark was the same shade, the color of fresh blood. ‘I need information.’ I told the shadows, watching them writhe at the sound of my voice. The slivers of smoke and shadow glided towards me, wrapping around my legs like an affectionate dog.

(THIRD POV) Dr. Collins leaned back against the cracked leather seat of the taxi, her fingers drumming restlessly on her lap. The sky outside had turned a heavy, ominous shade of blue, the last light of the day smothered by thick clouds, and the streetlights buzzed to life, casting long shadows across the road. Golden arrows slowly emerged, timidly trying to chase away the shadows of the night. The great fire disc made its appearance. First, it emerged as a red line growing wider and wider until it rose victorious into the angelic blue sky, ready to stretch its arms over the whole earth. "If I let this touch you, it will eat through your skin like fire through dry bone. And trust me, I won’t stop." This was one out of his deadly shadows. The throne room felt smaller, the walls closing in as the shadows crept closer.

Blood blossomed across his shirt, the crimson stain spreading rapidly. "No!" Sophie screamed, catching him as he fell to his knees. She turned her head, wild with rage, to see Evelyn holding the smoking gun, a satisfied smile playing at her lips. "You really thought we'd let you both walk away from this?" Evelyn taunted, her voice dripping with malice. "You've ruined everything, Alex. Did you think there would be no consequences?" Sophie pressed her hands to the wound, desperately trying to stem the flow of blood. "You monster!" she spat. "You've lost, Evelyn! Everyone will know what you've done!"
