I mumbled softly to myself as I entered my office and slammed the door shut. I made a beeline for the reserved section of the bookshelf which held all the information I had gathered on the Shadow wolf during my travels across the world. I had been through these books countless times in the past, but it was no surprise that I may have skipped over the parts about mates, since I was sure I’d never have one. Well played Mother Selene! Four hours later I gazed at the back cover of each and every book and scroll that I had about the Shadow wolf and much to my dismay, not a single one spoke even a word about mates.

It was a scent of fear and desperation, and it seemed to be coming from the direction of the human village. Shadow's curiosity was piqued, and he began to follow the scent. He approached the village cautiously, not sure what he would find. But as he drew closer, he could see that something was very wrong. The village was in ruins, and there was no sign of the humans who lived there.Shadow felt a chill run down his spine. They screamed in rage, retreating into the shadows as the light enveloped the room. Kaelen turned to her, his eyes widening in awe. "You did it, Amelia! You pushed them back!" But before they could celebrate, a cold laugh echoed through the room, sending chills down Amelia's spine. "Foolish children," a voice taunted, smooth and sinister. "You think you can beat me that easily?" From the shadows emerged The Shadow himself, cloaked in darkness, his eyes glowing with hatred. The air grew heavy with fear as he stepped forward, an evil grin spreading across his face.

I melted into the shadows, dodging each attack, the heat grazing my skin but never quite touching me. I emerged from the darkness once more, sending tendrils of shadow snaking toward him. This time, they were thicker, more solid. They wrapped around his arms and legs, pinning him in place. I tightened my grip, feeling the shadows constrict his movements. Hyperion struggled, his muscles bulging as he tried to break free, but the shadows held firm. For a moment, it seemed like I had him. But then, with a roar of effort, Hyperion's body exploded with solar energy. The shadows disintegrated under the intense heat, and I was forced to retreat, shielding my eyes from the blinding light.

Anna felt the book in her hands grow heavier, its leather cover vibrating faintly. “Stay close!” she shouted, but her voice was swallowed by the oppressive silence. A faint glow emerged from the shelves, revealing twisted figures with hollow eyes and jagged grins. They moved unnaturally, their bodies bending and snapping as they approached. “Run!” Logan yelled, grabbing Sophia’s hand.The group scattered, their footsteps pounding against the floor. Anna held onto the journal tightly, her mind racing. The book and mirror weren’t just cursed—they were anchors for the shadows.

I could only hear the brown wolf with the spirit stone on his head chuckle as if to mock me. ‘Why don’t we join hands now? Shadow Warriors are elite fighters-larger and stronger than humans. They're the polar opposite of hell's spawn because they think and strategize, making them a more formidable enemy. Because of fear, bigotry, and thinking the Shadow Warriors might overthrow the new government, the Federation almost started another war when the threat of the hellhounds receded. Thanks to the government's screw up, I have this nice advancement in office and I'm on a mad dash to repair relations with the good monsters. It's basically a suicide mission.
