Don't kill me, don't take that off, I need that to live!" Death's mocking laughter filled the area and he clapped his hands. "You're good for a laugh at least. I don't believe that you're ignorant of your own powers." Shadows gathered just out of reach of the dying flame's light, waiting to be acknowledged. Their eyes were pits of fire and as they stared at Holly, she tensed as she prepared for pain.

Lucian's claws went for its chest. But Zephyr was faster. His hand punched straight through the shadow wolf's ribcage. Black blood sprayed everywhere. The creature made a sound Laura would never forget. Half scream, half dying breath. Then it collapsed. Kieran's presence vanished from the camp like a candle being blown out. The shadow wolf was dead. But Zephyr wasn't stopping. He turned toward the other shadow wolves. The ones that were already retreating from Laura's light. His black eyes fixed on them with hunger.

We watch as the dead wolf transforms into its human, and I know for sure he is dead. One of the others jumps on me, but before she even reaches me, a bolt of golden light hits her and she falls. Dawn might not have the big defensive powers, but she can still fight and protect. The rogue she-wolf gets up, and she and the other wolf don’t move at first, but then back away. They know that they cannot win this fight. We have proven that to them. They don't make it out of the room, though, because Shadow and Hunter surprise them, and they are killed fast and easily.

I felt a whoosh behind my ears as he appeared before me, with the tip of his sword pressed on my neck. “Just one more move, and that would be the end. Then by tomorrow, the headlines would be, “Shadow king found dead in the dungeon with his head off.” He chuckled. Darien had made his intentions clear, this was going to end with one of us dieing, and it certainly wouldn't be me. “The reverse would be the case.” With one swift move, I disappeared from there and stood at his back while my shadows held unto his sword. “Focul Umbrelor.” I muttered.

Every grave he dug. The Darkness flared weakly around his body. A dying star. He lunged. Slammed into them. They stumbled back half a step. Surprised. Good. He tackled them to the ground. Hands around their throat. Not squeezing. Just holding. “Come back,” he begged. “Please… just come back…” Their eyes searched his. Empty. “I can’t.” Shadow moved. Too fast to see. Something cold slid into his stomach. Then out. He looked down.

Suddenly, the front door was kicked open with a harsh crash, and one of his panting henchmen rushed inside. "Sir..." With the cold barrel of the gun still pressed firmly under my chin, Archie snapped his head toward the guard. I closed my eyes, releasing the shaky breath I had been holding. My lips trembled as I braced myself for death, waiting for the fatal shot, until I heard the guard speak. "Someone found our location, sir. We're compromised." Before I could even react to the news, the cold metal of the gun violently collided with the side of my head, and everything went completely black.

But first. "You've been helpful," he told the leader. "Your death will be quick." "But I told you—" The protest ended as shadows coalesced around the man's head, compressing. The skull imploded with a wet crunch. Quick indeed, more mercy than the bandit had shown his own victims. The two lieutenants tried to run. One made three steps before shadow-spears erupted from the ground, impaling him in a dozen places. The other simply... stopped. His soul, visible to the Shadow Knight's transformed vision, tore free from its flesh housing and dissipated like smoke.

Shadowblade screamed as he covered his eyes. The eagle swooped down and tore a large chunk of flesh from Shadowblade's chest. At the same time, he let out a roar and punched the eagle in the stomach. The eagle screeched in pain and tumbled to the ground, its feathers scattering all over the place as it fell. It tried to take off again upon landing but failed. After a brief moment of blindness, Shadowblade stood up again and coldly said, "No amount of tricks will stop me from killing all of you today. Time to say goodbye. End of the line!”

’ The shadow eater swooped at us, almost touching the ninjas above us. Hikari’s grip tightened over me. It was scary, scary to know that I would be alive somewhere but not living or dying. Death seemed a better option than being stuck in between life and death. I cautiously lifted my eyes and the green ghost was peering right into my eyes from the gap that was left between the ninjas who shielded us from above. “Shit! SCATTER!” I yelled and the dome formation of the ninjas broke. Shadow water touched four of the ninjas and all of them succumbed to darkness, leaving behind no trace at all.

Eliminated five portions of absence. Shadow fell defending Void. Died protecting the Dark, who still resented forced transformation. Died saving the being who never fully forgave. Died proving that love transcended resentment. That protection transcended anger. That sacrifice transcended bitterness. Shadow died saving Void. Took seven fragments with them. Seven pieces of nothing destroyed. Seven portions of absence eliminated. Dozens more fell. Hundreds more died. Thousands more were erased. But they fought. They resisted. They stood. And slowly, gradually, painfully... they won.
