" I choked out, clutching the manuscript against my chest as I backed away until my spine hit the cold stone wall. ​Gabriel smiled—a slow, terrifying curve of his lips as he stepped into the dim beam of light. ​"I told you before, little bird," Gabriel whispered, reaching out to take the corner of the parchment from my trembling hands. "There is nowhere in this town where my shadow can not reach."

“Just reviewing tomorrow’s agenda.” Bridget’s legs felt like water. She smiled at her father and pretended the aftershocks weren’t still rippling through her. Later, alone in her room, she lay on the bed in the dark and opened the podcast app. *Shadow Marketing* Episode 1 had exploded. 1,200 downloads in a single evening. Comments scrolled: *This is the rawest take on corporate power I’ve ever heard.* *Whoever you are, you get it.* *The shadow claims you… damn.*

He was being watched. "Hello?" He muttered as he looked around uncomfortably. Something just didn't feel right in here. Suddenly a dark figure emerges from the shadows and pounces on him. Grabbing his neck tight in an effort to strangle him. Prince Ryder stared into those familiar cold grey eyes which were now a very stormy grey, as they stared at him without recognition. "My alpha". He called out in a choked up manner, not recognising his own voice. Alpha Ethan raised up an arm already shifted to a paw, ready to strike and prince Ryder's eyes widen as he let out an ear pressing scream.

Fearing the worst, she called a cab and headed directly to the base with Sarah right behind her. Upon getting there she met Ty watching some chaos unfurl a little in front of them. Unlike most werewolf packs in the area that had their hideouts in bars or churches or restaurants, the shadow rock pack had theirs in a sort of neighbourhood. It lent itself well to the family image they depicted all so well. It was right at the edge of town beside a large stream of water.

I had heard rumours of a book that was hidden here, a book that held the secrets of my kind. I searched the shelves, my heart pounding in my chest. And then, I saw it. A book with a cover made of black leather, adorned with strange symbols that seemed to shimmer in the light. “The history of the lycanthropic dragons” I pulled the book down, my hands shaking with excitement. I opened the cover and began to read. Arwan walked forward, “What are you doing?” “Reading books, I need to know more and understand more about myself. Everything is blurry right now, I can't control my powers without understanding it.” I responded calmly.

As if she knew.” Ryker didn’t move, barely breathed. Trixie lifted her eyes. “But she said, ‘You are not a shadow. You are not my ghost. You are my dawn. My blood. The fire they’ll never tame.’” Her lips trembled. “And then she kissed my forehead. She bled on my ribbon. And she whispered, ‘Wait for the light. Be the light, if it never comes.’” Tears slid down her cheeks. “And then she was gone.”

The morning light filtered weakly through the curtains, casting fractured patterns on the floor — much like my thoughts, splintered and jagged. I sat at the small kitchen table, clutching my cup of cold coffee, staring at the leather-bound book *Reflections of the Forgotten* open before me. The stories inside weren’t just tales — they were warnings, lessons written in sorrow and hope. Women who had lived as shadows, trapped in lives borrowed from others, fighting to reclaim their own reflections.

Then, with a deafening crack, the shadowy figure let out a roar, and Ethan was thrown backward, his body crashing into the ground. “Ethan!” Sasha screamed, scrambling toward him. The shadowy figure turned its burning eyes on her, and the doppelgänger’s voice echoed in her mind, a chilling whisper. “Choose, Sasha. Before it’s too late.” The chapter ended with the shadow closing in on Sasha, her desperate scream piercing the air as the world around her seemed to collapse.

"Speak quickly, for I have little patience today." Matt knelt, bowing his head. "My Alpha, I bring terrible news from the Dark Knight pack. Xavier is dead, and the messenger is on his way to deliver a message from their Alpha. A threat..." The Silver Moon Alpha gritted his teeth, his claws extending involuntarily. "I see." He growled, his voice dripping with malice. "Then I suppose we shall hear what this 'messenger' has to say. But know this, Matt, if this is some trick of the Dark Knight Alpha, your head will roll before theirs."
