A U T H O R Raphael storms toward the dinner table, his expression dark and simmering with suppressed fury. His grip tightens around the crumpled piece of paper in his hand, the edges slightly torn from how fiercely he’s clutching it. I see him and the lead vampire who met us at the border, begin to make their way to the door. “Coward!” I shout at him, hoping to distract the vampires still trying to get to me. Raphael snarls at that, as I swipe another group of heads off the vampires in front of me. He looks at me when he gets to the door. “You’d better hope that you find that hybrid bitch before I do,” he yells as he races from the room. Son of a bitch, he’s after Ennata. By the time we’ve killed all of the vampires in the room. King Raphael and his minion are long gone.

In that moment, I knew that Raphael was the one, the Reaver who would hold a special place in my life. He was the first, the one I had chosen to initiate the transformation, to wipe his memories, and to mark me. None of this he remembered, but the connection between us remained, a permanent bond that went beyond the physical mark on my skin. Though he didn't understand the full extent of our connection, he felt it nonetheless, a deep-seated tie that bound him to me in ways he couldn't explain. Before initiating the transformation, I had taken the time to form a deep connection with Raphael, to understand him in all his human complexities.

Why? Raphael takes a step back, utterly stunned. It is the first time I have ever seen him look anything less than completely in control, and the absolute power in the room fractures instantly. “Why the fuck are you here?” Raphael snaps, his voice tight, scrambling to regain his composure. It was a stupid, pointless thing to say at that moment because it's obvious. He's here to murder us. And clearly, he's first on the list. Axel drags his gaze and slams it into me, still standing by the wall in the flimsy black dress, eyes wide with horror. The small, helpless sound I'd made for Raphael earlier is now a silent scream trapped in my throat.

He trailed off at the end of his words, confusing me even more. “My name? What does it have to do with anything?“ I queried after all, I was no better than a nobody to anyone in this pack; my name wasn't something that was worth being known. “Everything Fiona, I'm Raphael, an alpha to the shadow pack, and Marcellus, your groom, tends to be my uncle. Hearing you say your name, I knew in a heartbeat he caused you to cry; he's always like that, and seeing how bad you wished for death made me feel greedy, Fiona; I might as well steal you away from him.”

Raphael turned around to check if he was speaking the truth and he was surprised to see a guy in black hood standing beside his car. "Alright am coming" Raphael replied, leaving the shop and going to his car. He didn't talk to Lucifer upon seeing him knowing the paparazzi might be watching and instead opened his car and sat inside. Lucifer joined him moment later "Good to see you again Boss" Raphael was elated to know that he was still alive; the scar in his face seemed to have begun erasing slowly. "Care to explain how you both did it?"

He growled trying to reach out for me again but another wave of crows entered the room, so many that it was nearly impossible to see everyone. "Aurora!" Raphael growled, hissing. "I will kill you!" He snarled. I don't listen to his words and rushed to the door, thankful that the crows were parting to give me room to reach it. But when my hands are on the handle I hear the growl of a wolf and knew that Raphael had shifted. Not sure the crows could hold him, I opened the door quickly. But when I do so, crows flew into the hallway.

Dante leaped out of the office leaving a trail of fresh blood, he was probably headed to the sick bay at the basement. "Idiot! was that necessary?" Raphael took my gun from me. Raphael was the only person that can say or do shit to me without any consequences, we had been best friends since we were 8. "Instead of lashing out on Dante, you should focus that energy on Scarface" Raphael advised. Raphael was cool tempered than me, he was always calculative and logical.
