Eliane screams her anger, sending another blast of fire at the elves who are trying to bury their hatchlings alive. I look around, seeing that the elves are doing the same to the wolves and shifters. They are creating trenches in the earth then trying to bury them alive while the wolves and shifters frantically try to claw their way out. I send a blast of fire toward the elves who are digging trenches, giving the shifters a chance to get out. As soon as they’re free of the trench, they begin attack the elves. “Give them to Cal’s kids,” I shout above the noise, watching as Shiv, an eagle shifter, begins scratching at an elf just before his mate, Bajaro, drags him toward the dragons and tosses

They were numerous, ruthless, and ready to conquer—but the Dark Elfs were already there, shadows among the trees, silent, lethal, their eyes glowing faintly with predatory focus. I watched from a distance, muscles tensing, though I wasn’t in the fight. The sheer precision of the Dark Elfs made the hair on my neck rise. They were predators perfected over centuries, and Rowan’s army, while disciplined and brutal, was unprepared for the shadows that moved faster than the eye could follow.

" Nimuel ran her fingers on the index, and turned the pages of the book. Aelanor leaned in, but Lady Saelther didn't move at all. Her eyes were closed as if in an attempt to relate the information with the Shaman's puzzle. "The Shaman did say that it was his first visit to the elven lands," Aelanor said after a while, "so that must mean that all the Shamans look somewhat similar. Elves do have a keen sense of recognition, and my mother not able to recognize the man for who he was." She took a deep breathe as her thoughts drifted back to her mother. Nimuel chirped in. "I think I have found something, which will help us move forward."

There are vampires, shapeshifters, witches, fae and even demons … they all tolerate each other enough to help keep the peace. Honestly, it is quite shocking that Gunner was able to get away with a war that lasted for months,” Thomas said. Vampires, demons?! How could they possibly be trusted, and friendly? Surely Gunner couldn’t win against that kind of power. I was anxious and on the edge of my seat wanting to know more.

I let a drop of blood fall on the mountaintop, and the infant spirits formed a line behind me. I gave the signal. "Tonight, we throw down with the enemies invading our turf!" The infant spirits buzzed like a swarm of angry bees. The Haunts had not shown up yet, but the wind was already messing with the folks on the street. One gust and poof! Their bones turned to dust. All that was left was a hollow shell with eyes wide open as they collapsed to the ground. More onlookers came, and the wind took them too. This time, not even the bone was left.

With help from strangers who answered their questions, they got to the base of the mountain. There were lots of other students—some witches, some wolves. In their world, there were four main supernatural types: Wolves, vampires, witches, and elves. But because of a past fight, they had split into two sides. Witches and wolves were one group (though they lived apart), and elves and vampires were another. So it was a big surprise when some elves and vampires showed up at the top of the mountain. “If witches can be in the Luna Calvary, why not elves and vampires? Don’t we all want peace?” a female elf said.

As they parted to allow the newcomers into the circle, I could see the distinct features of pointed ears and fair, otherworldly beauty that marked them as elves. My hands are white-knuckled, holding tightly to the arms of the chair as if they were the only thing keeping me grounded. My knuckles are pale and my fingers are shaking slightly. The elf's hands gracefully reached up to the hood, pulling it back to reveal the sight of a stunning female with long, golden hair that seemed to glow with its ethereal aura. Her eyes were a mesmerizing shade of purple like amethysts catching the light and reflecting it in an otherworldly sheen. The other elf was a towering figure, standing at least seven
