~Hunter’s Point of View~ I was enjoying my nice, quiet day off soaking in my huge tub. It had been a long week and my brothers and I rotated being on active duty and on call. I was aching for my week off. They were few and far between anymore since it seemed like everyday someone else was being a menace, being difficult. My brothers and I were Shadow Warriors, a coalition of various supernatural beings that keep the peace between each other and between our own kind. It’s a damn hard job, but someone has to do it.

The ally remained silent, surveying the terrain with an almost supernatural awareness. Without warning, the first wave of shadows struck. They moved faster than human perception could track, emerging from the mist like specters. Adrian swung his sword in a precise arc, cutting down two attackers before they could land. Elena loosed an arrow that pierced a shadow midair. Marcus intercepted two more from a flanking route, knives flashing with lethal precision. The ally struck silently, neutralizing multiple threats before they could advance.

It worked on a few of the younger Toten, but not for Anders. The Schatten were able to pick off about ten of the Toten as they backed away from the castle heading towards the river. They took one into custody and placed him in a circle of containment, where he could not shift into his shadow form. The Toten didn't have real Schatten forms; their shadows were weaker and more visible to the human eye. The fighting continued for hours, as each side gained some ground. Daan cast that one of the security guards went down; lost his head. Literally!

I couldn’t comprehend the amount of information I had that day. I could see the entrance getting closer, as a shadow stepped out from the doors as my vision blurred, and I fell. I had nothing left in me; the darkness cascaded down around me as I was dragged into the abyss.

I asked, looking at three who stood across from us. “We thought the Shadow of death was a man, never thought it could be a woman.” Luciano said. Why, because they just assumed only men could be doing something like this and no woman could be capable of inflicting so much fear on the world. Having them look over their shoulders scared for their lifes, owndering who it was becasue the Shadow of death could be walking next to them or be around them very where and don't even know who it was.

"The cowards are at our gates and they have brought the vampires of the Shadow-Spire! They come to butcher us, and to tear down our kingdom. Let them try, we will give them nothing but death!" The response from the courtyard was instantaneous and deafening. A unified, feral roar tore from hundreds of Lycan throats, a wall of pure sound that shattered the heavy silence. The shadow warriors drew their blades, clashing steel against silver shields in a rhythmic, thundering salute that echoed off the stone palace walls. They weren't just ready for war; they were starving for it.

Kael stepped beside me, his hand finding mine. "We'll make the truth known." His quiet promise steadied me. Across the chamber, Matthias clapped slowly, the sound echoing with mocking amusement. "What a touching reunion." His smile returned, colder than before. "Families reunited. Old secrets uncovered. Hearts finally healed." Darkness gathered around him once more. "I almost regret interrupting." He lifted one hand. The shadows surrounding the shattered prison answered instantly. Hundreds of armored warriors emerged from the crimson mist, each wearing the ancient insignia of the Shadow Court. The baton connected with the back of my neck, hard and final. Pain exploded through me, fast and blinding. My body gave in instantly, strength draining out like it was never mine to begin with. My knees buckled. The wall slipped away. Voices turned distant. Blurred. And just like that... Darkness took over.

Iconic. Bukky ducked behind a forklift and returned fire, barking curses in Spanish as he clipped two more. “Cover right!” The Shadow King yelled, diving low. The fight was brutal, quick, but the Shadows were built for this. Shadows don’t blink. They don’t panic. And then, like thunder rolling in, their secret roared to life. Antonioni signaled. A whistling whine pierced the air thickly. From behind a metal crate, one of his boys hoisted it, and two controlled it from their ends.
