“I know you’ve heard of me, but I’ll introduce myself for formality. The name’s Sloane. I’m a fifteen-year-old powerful and intimidating Shadowest from Beththorphe Empire.” Flicking her thumb, a midnight-black shadow appeared beside her, reflecting her height. She patted it before talking once again. “My shadow’s in level two and it’s a Scyrawing type, because I’m a weapon summoner.” The moment she said the word summon, a dagger flew in the air, which she caught by simply raising her hand. The presence of her shadow and her weapon has intimidated most of their circles that they ended up summoning their shadow, flickering different intensities of darkness.

I never could have anticipated that the shadows of her past were already closing in. I had brutally rejected Raegan right after she laid her heart bare to me. My chest had physically ached as I forced those cold, deceitful words out of my mouth, shattering her spirit. It was an act of pure, unadulterated cowardice, but my fear had won the battle. And because of that cowardice, she was now in mortal danger.

Dylam was about to lose his mind when the vans finally arrived. The warriors get out and the drivers hide the vans among the trees, covering them with bushes, making it impossible for them to be accidentally seen by anyone approaching from the south. It was a frightening sight for anyone who saw them coming. Two hundred and thirty-nine warriors gathered, led by Dylan, transmitted an aura so powerful that in the eyes of the three new rogues, the forest seemed to tremble with fear. Shane was a warrior and had trained with the Shadow Pack warriors, and he knew they would be utterly decimated by those men opposite to him.

But then, a ShadowClan patrol, alerted by the sounds of the fight, arrived as reinforcement. The ShadowClan warriors, known for their stealth and agility, moved like wraiths through the undergrowth, flanking the Crimson Fang and cutting off their escape routes. Their attack was coordinated, not with elaborate plans or pre-arranged signals, but with an intuitive understanding born of shared experience and mutual trust. Rhys, the hotheaded Silvermoon warrior who had previously clashed with Kael, found himself fighting alongside the ShadowClan leader, their movements a ballet of deadly precision. They fought not as rivals but as equals, their combined strength turning the tide of battle.

A ripple of sheer, gut-deep horror runs through the elite warriors as they realize what's going on. We could never take him by surprise. We were just making a fool of ourselves all along. The ground erupts violently at the edge of the newly formed, elongated shadows. Figures rise up instantaneously out of the dark, tall and vaguely humanoid, their eyes like hollow, dark pits reflecting nothing. Shadow warriors. They swarm us immediately, appearing faster than anyone can react. One is instantly cut down by a quick-moving Elf blade, only to completely re-form out of the surrounding darkness a heartbeat later, unharmed.

Alaris said and the shadow gave it to him, then he returned it to the shadow, who took it back and fell on a knee. The murmuring increased. This was nothing like they had ever seen before. “Savior! Savior! Savior!” Alaris held up a fist and they became quiet. “They are shadow warriors. Only seven of them can be created from the shadow of each of you. They will have your skills and none of your emotions; they will seek to protect you because your death would be the death of all your shadow warriors. However, my orders will be their priority. If you are to betray us, they will kill you. You cannot hide from them, after all, your shadow.”

“I mean no harm. I was led here. I’m looking for—” But they didn’t care. The shadows tightened around me like a noose. The noise grew sharper, stabbing at my temples. I stumbled backward, heart racing. And then— Figures burst out of the trees. Cloaked. Armed. Silent. They moved swiftly, positioning themselves between me and the shadows. Weapons in hand. Striking hard. But the shadows didn’t react like normal beings. They didn’t scream or bleed. They didn’t fall. Instead, they threw the warriors around like toys, vanishing and reforming like smoke every time a blade touched them.

Warriors shifting mid-stride, racing toward the sanctuary. The sacred grounds were on fire when we arrived. Shadow Clan members were everywhere. At least forty of them. Their red eyes glowed. Dark energy crackled around their hands. They were trying to break through the sanctuary doors. The ancient wolf inside was their target. "Protect the sanctuary!" I roared through the pack link. My warriors crashed into the Shadow Clan. Teeth and claws met dark magic. I tore through two Shadow Clan members immediately. Their dark forms dissolved into ash. But more came. They kept coming.

--- ### The Siege of the Shadows The attack didn't begin with a roar. It began with a frequency. A low, vibrating hum began to emanate from the armor of the Refurbished warriors. The wolves who had gathered behind us, ready to fight for their new home, suddenly clutched their ears, howling in agony. "It's a neural-suppressant!" I yelled, covering my own ears. The sound felt like a drill entering my skull. "Kaima, get to the center!" Rowan shouted. He lunged forward, his broken blade meeting Remnant’s arm, which had transformed into a shimmering blade of blue energy.

Scott yelled. Marcus and I nodded at each other from a distance and we both shot at the pilot at the same time. I saw a flash of blood inside as the chopper started to lift up ... it went back down. We were both at a shit angle to see anything much inside. The shots were still coming in heavy, and we were both nervous to shoot back and risk blowing everyone up. It started to lift off again, and I changed clips. “They can’t fucking leave,” I yelled. I heard Scott yelling something but I blocked it out.
