Shattered Crown Novels & Stories

And now I am standing in the wreckage of that loyalty, watching her try to rewrite it. She steps forward, her eyes wide, her mouth trembling. “Fiona, you have it all wrong. It’s not what you think~” I laugh. It’s a brittle, hollow sound that feels like glass cracking in my throat. “Why do people always say that? Every damn fucking time. First Edward, now you. You always say it’s not what I think, when it’s exactly what I think. It’s exactly what it looks like. You hurt me. You hurt our friend group. You shattered something that mattered.”

He had a painful expression, which annoyed Vivian. “Don’t look at me with that painful look. Someone might think I am wicked. But I am not. I just participated in the race, and I won. The game had no rules and all it cared about was to win. And I did exactly that. "Please get out of my house. I have already filed for divorce. I don’t need you in my house," she said harshly. "Are you driving me out of your own house?" he asked. “Please get out. You are destroying our peace. Hey drive him away. I don’t want to see him near this house." Shadrach, who is her fiancé, said.

"I thought that control was the only thing that prevented me from shattering. That if I just controlled everything—my business, my relationships, even you—I would never shatter. But I was wrong. I lost you, and I shattered." Isla didn't know what to say. Her rage had been such a faithful companion. Letting it go now was like skydiving without a parachute. "And what of Vivienne?" she asked, not wincing when she spoke the name. "You were betrothed to her while leaving me notes under my door." Killian let out a slow breath, the guilt weighing his shoulders down.

“I'll destroy it.” The creature's eyes widened. “You can't.” “Watch me.” I pulled the golden crown down. The moment my fingers touched it, a wave of power exploded through the palace. The Heart screamed. The Void screamed. Kael collapsed. And the creature finally released him. I looked at the crown in my hands. It was cracking. “No…” The creature rushed toward me. “STOP!” Too late. The crown shattered. A blinding golden light filled the palace. The creature screamed.

“Failing how?” “The land is turning,” he replied. “Faster than before. It’s not waiting. It’s spreading.” Another voice cut in from the side. “The southern perimeter too. We just cleared it yesterday, and now it looks worse than it did before.” “That’s not possible,” someone else muttered. I exhaled slowly, forcing my thoughts into order. The crown was broken. I had seen it shatter. Korran had lost control. So why was the corruption still moving? Unless…

Her smile, laced with blood, looked haunting. A Haunt swept in, scattering the cash and gold bars from the car. Sparks flew, and the flames roared to life with a loud whoosh. I pulled a gold bar from my pocket. "Hear me, infant spirits, it's time for our final showdown!" The winds howled as I watched my mom wail in despair. Her tears were for her wealth, not a shred of worry for me. I spun around and plunged into the swirling darkness without a second thought.

As we move—brothers sealing exits, plans snapping into place—I know one thing with brutal clarity: She understands the world. What she doesn’t understand yet… …is how far four Crown Lords are willing to burn it down to keep her breathing.

Lady Elara’s gaze lingered on Leigh with keen interest. “My lords, my lady,” Makil began, his voice carrying easily in the stone chamber. “Thank you for answering the crown’s call. You come at a pivotal hour. The Shattered Wheel is broken, its heart burned out in the mountain’s fire. But the embers of discord they sought to fan still glow. It is time to pour water on those embers, not bellows. It is time for truth.”

I dropped beside them and pushed my hand over Raiken’s. Living tide rushed through Riven’s blood. It found no crown fragment. Only an empty space pulling everything inward. “He gave it back,” I said. Raiken looked through the broken floor. Below us, the first ocean opened its jaws. The returned fragment fell through the darkness like a black star. The creature swallowed it. Its vast body blazed blue. Every crown mark across the battlefield answered. Pain struck my forehead. The White Tide Crown formed above me, then shattered into light.

Just wind. And silence. Behind her: the crown—no longer gold, but forged in obsidian and bullet casings. It wasn’t worn. It was placed—on a pedestal. A symbol. She didn’t need it on her head. Because the world had already bent its knees. ~~~~~~~~~~ BOOK OF BLOOD — FINAL ENTRY OF THE CITADEL ERA “I did not inherit an empire. I burned the ashes and named the smoke.” “I did not want their crown. I broke it, reforged it, and left it behind.”
