She stretched her aching limbs and settled again beside him. "How do you feel?" He asked. "Good." She murmured. "I called Shadow. Please don't be mad." "I'm not mad." He said, much to her surprise. "I thought of giving him control to mate with you, but I was worried he would hurt you again." "He didn't hurt me." She touched his face and smiled. "Oh, Kieran, it felt wonderful. Except from the part where it hurt." He chuckled. "I know. Shadow didn't shield his thoughts from me."

His eyes are hollow with fatigue, yet still burning with loyalty. I swallow hard. My throat feels like sandpaper. “…I’m sorry. This one’s mine.” Before they can protest, I thrust my will outward. The shield hurls them away—launched like arrows to safer ground. The instant they’re gone, the heat slams into me. My skin sears, the tips of my hair curl and crisp, and agony rips a scream from my throat. I almost collapse right there—then, instinctively, the shield snaps back around me, thin and fragile.

I shielded Jonah and Rose, whose face had turned deathly pale, behind me as we retreated backward. One of the men swung his knife from a tricky angle. The blade gleamed with a cold light as it sped toward Rose's back. "Rose! Watch out!" An incredibly strong force rammed into my side just as I heard Jonah's scream. Jonah had shoved me into the line of danger without any hesitation. The blade shone. I reflexively shifted my body to the side, but I had lost my balance when Jonah suddenly shoved me. The blade buried itself deeply into my right shoulder.

Sheila's POV "Damian, how could you...? I stuttered, unable to form a complete word. I was shocked, refusing to believe what was just happening. I wished it was a dream, but the sharp pain from my abdomen reminded me I wasn't dreaming. "How could I? You think I can keep something as cursed as you around me? Even the moon goddess will reject you. I no longer have any need for you, so you can go ahead and die," Damian said with a straight face. There was no emotion on his handsome face.

Cerulean answered so very calmly for everything that was going on. "Well, that was uncalled for," Shaylee said as she rolled her eyes and flicked her hand at Cerulean. Obviously being called a bitch wasn't anything new to her. Shaylee then looked at Seth with a smile on her face that actually looked sincere. "I guess we're meant to have that alliance after all." My personal life is out there for everyone to see, and she's going back to talking about the alliance?! Seth looked at Shaylee with a smug grin on his face. "That is if my lead warrior decides to take back her rejection. As far as I'm concerned, this conversation ended with that."

Shaun's P.O.V. I lie Sherri on the bed when we reach the bedroom. I can't believe she already let me mark her. We've only known each other for a few hours. I thought it would take longer to convince her because she didn't know anything about shifters. However, she was adamant that we do it now, and I wasn't going to argue. She's mine now.
