I coughed but went rigid underneath the steel toe black marauder boots. "You should have stayed out of this. You had no business interfering Shields. Do you know how high and how far this will go? It doesn't stop with me and that is why I've gotta take the opportunity to end you." I laughed. This was my maze on my premises, I'd be buried here one day but not murdered. "You don't get it do you?" I retorted and begin unraveling truths for him. "Someone from high in the chain told me to get you and them and to deal with the infestation. You guys are like crumb snatching roaches."

The intense perfume emanating from Hiya's body wafted over her, a pleasant scent that could encapsulate centuries within its allure. Contrary to this, Utkarsh had always been associated with the scent of alcohol. She slowly opened her eyes, and her gaze fixated on his exposed chest where two buttons of his shirt were undone. Shifting her focus away, she looked at his face, which was silently pulling her into his embrace and walking. When suddenly, their eyes met – her black diamond eyes collided with his hazel brown ones. Panicking, Hiya quickly averted her gaze to the other side, and in response, he smirked, a subtle smile she failed to notice.

I rushed down to him when he was about to enter his car and handed over a card to him. "Here's Amelia's card, you can always call her," I said, stretching out a blue card to him. Argh! I don't know why everything that belongs to her is always in blue. Such a disgusting color. The lycan king looked at me with a surprised look before he accepted the card and zoomed off. The number written there is just Amelia's old number so there's no way he would be able to contact her. I smiled wickedly as I watched him drive out of sight.

He lit the cigarette, then blew smoke out into the open air. Failure wasn’t an option, not with HEXAGON. Not with him watching. I had seen what they did to those who disappointed them—broken souls who were tortured in ways that made you forget who you were. Feeling giddy, Mikayla put on the bracelet and did a little spin for the guests. But the second that Cassidy saw Aaron on the ground, something switched inside of her, too. “You fucking bitch!” Cassidy shrieked, the same rage that Jo felt coursing through her own veins present in her aunt. An intense blast of blue light filled the room, as if every element of magic the Hybrid had within her was unleashed all at the same time. Jo heard it sizzle past her as it sent its blinding light out across the room, knocking all of the Vampires and Assassins between Cassidy and Holland aside and sending the Vampire Queen into the wall behind her with a sharp, thwack.

Until the door opened. No knock. No clipboard-carrying doctor. Just a man in a dripping black trench coat filling the doorway like he owned the building. Tall. Too tall. Skin pale as marble, eyes black and endless. Shadow Guard. Had to be. The elite vampires who patrolled BludHeaven’s cliffs and made sure no one—human or otherwise—crossed lines they weren’t supposed to cross. He looked at me like I was a puzzle he hadn’t decided whether to solve or break.

In seconds, she would drain every drop of blood from his body. Shiloh finally lost her composure and screamed, "No!" A blue tempest exploded around her entire body. The domed ceiling of the Blood Sanctum was blown straight into the sky, and a pillar of light connecting heaven and earth crashed down onto Shiloh. She rose slowly within the column of light, her eyes transforming completely to glowing blue.

The witches closed in, their laughter echoing like a chorus of nightmares. Something inside Aqua snapped. A surge of dark energy, unfamiliar and terrifying, welled up within her. She felt her pendant grow hot against her skin, the clear crystal turning black as smoke. The air around her crackled with raw power as she turned back towards the attackers, her fear morphing into a blinding rage.
