I stared at Liam and my lips curved into a smile. " I promise you that everything is going to be fine really soon. What about I tell you a bedtime story?" I suggested, trying my best to cheer him up. " Yes! I would like you to tell me a bedtime story. I always listen to mommy's old same story every single night." Liam's eyes sparkled and I couldn't help it but smile. He looked so happy as though he wasn't sad just a few minutes ago. He laid back on the bed and I began to tell him one of the stories that my mother used to tell me when I was little. I watched as he slowly drifted into a deep slumber with a smile on his face and my heart warmed up.

I knew what they wanted, and I also knew this would be a challenge. I approached their beds, looking at their little faces with affection. “Okay, kids, it’s time for a bedtime story,” I said, trying to calm them down. “But, there’s one thing. You have to promise to go to bed after the story is over, okay?” Adney immediately raised his hand. “Mom, I promise! We’ll go to bed after the story, right Adolf?” Adolf nodded enthusiastically. “Yes, Mom. We promise!” Ainsley and Allonza also looked at me with sparkling eyes. “We promise too, Mom,” Ainsley said softly, while Allonza just nodded, holding her doll tightly.

I heard my door bell,and ran down,to see Ryan in pajamas pants and a white tee,he was holding some of my favorite snacks,I awwed as I saw the grocery bag,I took em and skipped excitedly to the kitchen and coming back out,with some ice cream in a plate,we stayed up Till about midnight, I yawned and told him I wanted to get some sleep. She patted his head like he was her oversized baby, repeating herself when Damian shook his head happily. "What's that?" He lay down, wrapping his arms around her legs. He moved her hand from her belly to his head. "Tell me." 'God, baby, your dad is jealous of you.' As she stroked his hair, she began telling the tale. "It's a children's story. You really don't know it, love? It's about a rabbit who races against a turtle." The book she was holding was a collection of classic fables-popular bedtime stories or early reading practice for preschoolers. I would be damned if I only instructed them and left. For a million years, my order would only accumulate dirt, as Ethan and Ezra would bury themselves in their video games and Emily would baby Penny. “Mum, tell us a bedtime story.” Ezra pleaded. "His mom doesn't know how to read the story in a cool way," he explained. Trisha pecked her son's brow, admiring his sleeping form.

I got her the three piggies story book and began to read it, making the voices, huffing and puffing making her hide behind Zorro sometimes and giggling other times. When the story ended, I told her it's bed time, kissed her cheek, turned the light down before me and Tristan left her room, you'd forget he's there with how little attention she gave him. We moved to my room to spend the rest of the night, we have hardly spent few minutes there before a little someone sneak in my room with her fox stuffy and slip into my lap. "Little bear didn't I say it's bed time?" I ask her, it's ten thirty now, her bedtime was thirty minutes ago.

I stepped back into the twins' room, feeling defeated, but I couldn't let them see the sadness on my face anymore. Their tears had stopped. I couldn't give them another reason to cry. "Who wants to hear a bedtime story?!" I clapped my hands, feigning the giddiness in my voice. They chorused, equally as loud. "Me!" They curled up in bed with me, and I began telling them a tale my mother always told me before bed when I was a child. It was about dragons, the magical creatures who could breathe fire.

Then came bedtime. Reasonable. Peanut already asleep in the nursery. God. Tiny and peaceful. Fair. Meanwhile Lily lay beneath her blankets. Reasonable honestly. Mr. Buttons tucked safely beneath one arm. God. Adrian sat beside her bed. Fair. The usual routine. Reasonable. A story. A goodnight kiss. God. Then sleep. Fair. Or at least that was the plan.
