I spoke, breaking the ice.
I noticed the shift in his body, but he didn't look at me. “When I first moved to Italy, life wasn't easy at all there. I was penniless, pregnant, and unaware of how to survive” I went on, feeling the urge to share. “You must know, without money you won't survive a day in Italy. I luckily had some cash with me, but it wasn't sufficient to sprawl more than three days. Somehow, I got a job. A waitress job” I paused, taking a moment to gather my emotions. Remembering those days made my eyes wet. The days were literal hell. “The wage was low, but I didn't have any other choice. I worked there for five months, and had to leave because of my pregnancy.”
