One Night, No Names
I replied after a short pause, “I will need water.”
A small smile appeared on Jason’s face. It was as though he was relieved to hear me ask for something, no matter how simple it was. “Water it is,” he said.
For the first time in a while, I felt some of the tension leave my shoulders.
The request was small, almost insignificant, but it reminded me that accepting help didn’t always have to mean sharing every thought or explaining every feeling.
Sometimes it was enough to let someone do a small act of kindness.
Jason stood and prepared to get the water, still keeping his attention on me to make sure I was comfortable.
