She got up slowly, body still heavy from the medication. The sleep had been deep and sticky, but she needed to shake it off. She walked to the bathroom, let the robe fall to the floor, and turned on the shower. Hot water poured down like a waterfall, hitting her shoulders, streaming down her back, her chest, her thighs. She closed her eyes and let the steam fill the air, trying to wash away not just the sleep, but the thoughts that kept circling back to him. Adam. The touch. The whispered words she’d pretended not to hear. The kiss that still burned on her lips.
