It was a mother and daughter looking at a mama and baby swan. “I’ll take it,” Arthur told the gallery clerk in Italian. He looked at me and then at Mia. “So we can remember this trip.”

The sound of a throat clearing interrupted our moment, causing both of us to turn in its direction. “Lila’s been searching for the both of you.” Arthur said, his voice was low and had a hint of coldness to it. Even in the darkness that surrounded us, I could feel his gaze burning in my direction. Stephen nodded, smiling apologetically at me. As if I could have blamed him for being distracted by me. I squeezed his arm reassuringly, letting go. “She agreed to be my girlfriend, Arthur!” Stephen exclaimed, grinning. Lila appeared just then, her smile widening by the minute, “Oh yeah?! Well congrats to both of you!” She grabbed onto me to pull me into a hug.

Lia doesn't say anything but grins like an idiot as if she knew that Ares would do that. I'm left doing a mini dance, all on my own, because my wolf is on a date with my body, and I'm the third wheel. Technically, Arthur and I are third wheels. Suddenly, as happy as we both were, that would be me and Lia, Arthur comes back and pulls us away and Lia doesn't wait to be told, and push me back to life. The moment my soul connects with my body again, it's like a semi-electric shock brings me back to life.

Just as I was about to jump over a log of wood, I tripped, hitting my head on the wood. I flipped onto my back, terror gripping my chest. Everywhere was silent for a while until something leaped out of the woods, grabbing my throat. My eyes widened in shock as I tried to free myself from its grip. It was Arthur but at the same time it wasn't him. “Let me go,” he growled, his voice sounding like a thousand souls trapped in the underworld. I clawed at his arms, trying to break free. “Arthur..stop!” But he didn’t stop, his grip only tightened, his fingers pressing into my skin.
