I dare not to look in their faces. "H-here is the food." I clear my throat. Even my voice is shaking. The boy in the single sofa look at me. He's reading a book in his hand. I know that book! It's Our dawn is hotter than day. A book about two people who keep their night busy while sleeping in the daylight.

But before I left for good, I looked at her over my shoulder and said, “Remember what I said. If we ever meet again, I won’t let you live.” ° ° ° ° ° ° ° I took a deep, calming breath before I inserted the key and unlocked the Book of the Damned. The second I heard the click sound, there was an earthquake. Or at least, I’d thought it was an earthquake until I realized that everything else inside my room was staying perfectly still except for the book and my hands that were holding it. The book was shaking, and I feared that it would burst at any moment. Luckily, the shaking ceased after a few minutes and the cover of the book swung open, revealing the first page.

It was like a whole new world had been opened up to me, and I couldn't wait to explore it further. With that in mind, I took a deep breath and picked up the book once again, ready to continue my exploration into the ancient secrets it held.I hesitantly touched the cover of the ancient leather-bound book, trying to shake off the flashes of memory that kept playing in my mind. I slowly opened it, my heart racing with anticipation and trepidation, I was awed by the intricate designs in the pages that slowly revealed themselves.

He gestured grandly around. My head began to spin. “Do you know what creature that is?” I asked, dreading the answer. He passed the book to me and nodded at it. “Open to the bookmark” I obeyed and slowly turned the pages to see a grotesque sketching of something. “What is this?” I stared at the ferocious creature.

Jada breathed heavily and climbed down the ladder with a heavy-looking book in her hand. She placed the book on the table and blew off the dust which covered it. I read the title— "The book of the gift of seers.” Below the title, there was a tiny writing which read— “only to be seen by seers.” After Jada cleaned off the dust and cobwebs, she opened the book. The first page took us by surprise. She kept flipping through. Her face had a perplexed expression, and I was astonished as well. When she got to the last page of the book, she turned towards me and said. “This is strange.”

At that moment, the skull general suddenly furrowed his brow, and the strange book that had been stored away for a long time suddenly came out on its own and glowed. "What's happening? Why is this book..." The Skull General suddenly thought of something, he took the floating book and opened the glowing page from it. As he read the contents of the page, his body trembled uncontrollably. His hands felt weak, and his legs seemed ready to collapse to the ground.

“Hold on, I just need to get something.“ She went into her inner chambers, and a few moments later she came out holding a big book. One I’d never seen before. She took her seat and set the book on the table. “Well, son, do you know what this is?” I shook my head. “No.” “Good. This book is known as the old scrolls of the werewolves. And I want you to open it to the very center page.” I looked at her, wary. What could she be planning now? But for all questions, I pull the book towards me, flipping to the center page just as she had instructed. When I opened it, her voice followed. “Well, what do you see? Read it out loud.”

Camille marked her place in her book with her bookmark and sat it aside as she stood up. Scanning the books, she found the one she wanted. Bending down, she grabbed the bottom shelf and pulled it out. The next few shelves moved out also creating stairs. Climbing up she grabbed the black leather bound book and then climbed back down. A nudge from her bare foot had the shelves sliding back into place. Camille returned to her spot on the couch and handed over the book. Nessie looked at the book before opening it and seeing her mother’s great-grandmother’s name.

My heart beats with a mixture of excitement and trepidation as I reach underneath my shirt and retrieve the book of enchantments, its weight a comforting presence against my skin. Glancing around to ensure that I'm truly alone, I find myself surrounded only by the whispering leaves and the gentle rustle of the wind. Satisfied that there are no prying eyes, I take a deep breath and open the worn pages of the book, each one filled with secrets and possibilities beyond imagining.
