“I’ll join you on the rink.” Lily slaps me lightly on the hand. “Don’t be wicked, Era.” Her voice is cold, but I can hear the hint of a joke in it. Then she turns towards them and bows. “I’m Lily.” Her voice is low and seductive. “I’m Sierra’s best friend.” I scoff. This isn’t Lily’s voice. This girl is a troublemaker and can literally scream the whole place down, so why is she acting like she can’t even kill an ant?

* * * The woman is named Sierra, and she is the Beta of Nikolai. She is a Lycan and a Healer, and apparently she goes with Nikolai wherever he is. That proved to be a good thing, because even though my makeshift bandage stopped the bleeding, Vincent was still shaking and spasming from when I left them behind. He’s having some kind of toxic shock, and thankfully, Sierra was there to help with the supernatural part I didn’t train for.

What do you do for work?” “Um, nothing, actually. Just a lot of hobbies. Cooking, gardening, shopping.”

“I’m Min-ji. It’s very nice to meet you.” Sienna reached out carefully, her voice soft but steady. “I’m Sienna. Nice to meet you too.” “Welcome. You look lovely tonight,” Min-ji added. “Thank you,” Sienna replied, offering a small nod and smile. Then Liam chimed in—an old friend and a marketing director from LA. “Well, that explains why no one’s been able to reach you outside of meetings lately, Denver,” he said with a grin. “Turns out you’ve been secretly married.”

I couldn't keep up as I tended to zone out, my eyes on Sierra. “You know, if you ain't careful, Rider K is going to take Sierra. She is some hot chick for everyone to want her so much,” Ian said, and they all laughed. Jackson and Rod joined Sierra. I excused myself from the group and walked over to them. Taking a seat on the only seat left, I placed my glass down on the table.

I looked up at my husband Christian with an fierce determination in my eyes. "She does not have a gun, Christian " I said. "She is an broken twenty-two-year-old girl who woke up from a thirty-year nightmare into a world where everyone she loved was gone. She is me before I met you before I had my son Leo."

If I didn't know better, if I hadn't been tracking you since you were a child, I might have been fooled for a second too."

I say moving forward to hug Lily tight. As we wrap up Luna business that she had to share with me, she heads out to complete some to do lists before she leaves us. Between Colby leaving and Lily getting ready to leave, I am feeling a little overwhelmed with sadness. Needing to shake it off, I decide to take Shelby and go for a run along our borders to patrol with our warriors.

I have an interview for a proper career with healthcare and bonuses. Okay, Zoe, breathe, don’t get ahead of yourself. It’s an interview. You don’t have the job yet. I tossed Isaac’s laptop into my bag. I need to shower, brush my hair and find an interview outfit. Shit, I’m a waitress, my interview outfit consists of faded black jeans and a black t-shirt with a hole in the armpit. My feet hit the sidewalk running. There’s a charity shop on the route home. It never has much in my size but with a grand total of six dollars to my name, it’s my only option.
