~ Helen's POV ~ Hours have passed. And still… Sebastian hasn’t returned. The room is quiet, too quiet. The walls feel like they’re closing in on me, and the silence? It’s not peaceful. It’s heavy. Suffocating. All I hear is the unending beeping of these machines. It’s a constant rhythm, like a slow ticking clock dragging time itself. I’ve memorized the pattern already. Beep… beep… beep. The drive over to the apartment was filled with an uncomfortable silence. Unasked questions hung in the air like a thick fog. He simply gave a small, shy smile and took a slight, graceful bow. ​For the first time in his life, the silence wasn't a prison he was locked inside it was a choice he was making. The steady, rhythmic sweep of the windshield wipers was the only sound inside the leather-scented cocoon of Xavier’s sedan as the autumn rain lashed against the tinted glass.
