CHAPTER NINETY FIVE The silence did not end after the system’s final line. It only changed shape. Elena felt it first as a continuation rather than a pause—like the room had refused to reset itself after acknowledgment. The display still held the unresolved output from the previous cycle, but more disturbing than its presence was its patience. It was still waiting. Not for input. For recognition. Her fingers remained near the control surface, yet the act of moving them felt delayed again, as if her intention had to pass through something before becoming physical. That delay had become familiar now. Familiar enough to be dangerous.

They had made contact. But the gardeners were more cautious. “You have given them a taste of water in a desert,” Sela told them that night. “What happens next is critical. Do they try to find more water? Or do they decide the taste was a poison?” Her words proved prophetic. The next morning, the signal from the Silent City changed dramatically. The flickering orange didn't decrease. It intensified, becoming more frequent and more violent. But now, mixed with the gold flickers, was something new: a deep, pulsing purple signal of… confusion. I held out my hand, once for ten, and again for eight. “Eighteen?” Tracy guessed. I nodded. “That… that would be about right. Your parents,” she paused and sighed. “That’s probably too difficult to gesture.” I nodded. There were signs, but I didn’t think she would understand them. “I can wait until Ronan comes back with a way for you to communicate,” Tracy said. Then she shook her head. “I can wait until you’re really ready to talk. I’ve waited this long.” I had a sinking feeling that the few answers I had to offer were going to break this woman’s heart.

"No! He doesn't know what he's saying! Philip, listen to me, I can explain—please, let me explain!" Philip looked like a demon straight out of hell. His voice was ice. "A wench? What did you two do to Grace?! You both deserve to die!" At that moment, his parents rushed in with the family doctor. Laila threw herself into their arms, crying out in fear, "Please help us! Philip's gone crazy!" The doctor quickly injected Philip with a sedative. He collapsed instantly. However, the effect only lasted two hours. Philip woke up, dazed. He sat up and looked around in confusion—then suddenly remembered and tried to stand.

After what seemed to be thirty seconds they turned to look at her as she had stood there not shaking just looking at them as thoygh she wasn't hearing what they were saying. But indeed she was deaf. Watching their lips she tried to understand whatever it was that they were saying but it was somehow difficult. The three men standing before her from how they communicated she could see that one was the Alpha, the other the Beta and the last man should be a servant who was being trained or something from the way they sent him or maybe it was just her mind making up those scenarios. The Alpha turned to look at her and somehow her wolf blushed more like she was trying to flirt with his own wolf.

"I fear for you, Susan . The world can be cruel, and you're facing it alone now." A bittersweet smile graces my lips as I reach out to touch his hand, offering a fleeting moment of reassurance. "I understand your concerns, Ethan. But sometimes, we must venture into the unknown to find our strength. I won't be truly alone, for I carry within me a tiny spark of life, a reason to persevere." Silence envelops us momentarily as Ethan processes my words, his brows furrowed in contemplation.

…Selena's pov… As I arrived at the designated meeting point, Silence's words struck me with a sense of unease. He instructed me to turn off my phone—a demand that challenged my instinctual need for control and communication. Despite the urge to protest, I understood the gravity of the situation. With a reluctant nod, I powered off my phone, severing the last thread connecting me to the outside world. Led by Silence, I ventured deeper into the enigmatic building. The air held a subtle mix of secrecy and anticipation, tangible enough to make my skin prickle with anticipation. The corridors were dimly lit, casting long shadows that seemed to whisper secrets to those who listened.

With a steadying breath, Aqua placed her hands over her heart and concentrated, allowing her thoughts to drift like leaves carried on the wind. “Mom… Dad…” she whispered, her voice trembling yet resolute. “If you can hear me, please, I need you.” A tingling sensation enveloped her as the air thickened with energy, crackling around her like static electricity. The room dimmed, shadows shifting as if responding to her call. Then she lowered her voice and whispered: "Since you are on duty." “Is that the fruit spritzer again?” Janik happily held out his empty glass to her and she filled it up with a nod. "You are probably telling each other everything?" She also filled Josh's glass and then said goodbye. She put the bottle on the trolley next to them. "She's to be smooched!" Janik grinned at his friend, who just had a smile on his face, but now looked at his friend disapprovingly. The latter raised his hands disarmingly. "It's okay, it's okay, it's yours."
