“Are daffodils your favourite flower?” Lila questioned, before tacking onto the end,” Mine are hydrangeas.”
“Yes, they are. Why do you like hydrangeas?” the woman turned back on Lila.
“I like them for the bushes they grow in. They come back every year in my favourite colour range, ‘round here,” Lila happily described,” why do you like daffodils?”
“I told you, it’s because they announce spring’s arrival. The weather gets warmer, there’s more light in the sky, and they’re such a bright yellow that it’s impossible for them not to make you absurdly happy,” the woman related, beginning to loosen up a little.
