I scream some more, but a cloth is fitted in my mouth, and the taste of it makes me gag. I don’t allow despair to touch my heart. I still have one option left, and that’s to shift. I close my eyes and brace myself for the swift change to happen, but something searing hot touches the inside of my wrist and makes me scream. Silver. I know it before I even see it.

“ Meara!” The whispers started again, soft but notable. I tensed, my eyes snapping open. I scanned the field, but there was no one in sight. The sound seemed to come from the tree itself, from the rustling of its leaves. I pressed my palms against the rough bark and closed my eyes, focusing on the whispers. " Come... find... me..." The words were faint but distinct. My heart raced. Was I losing my mind, or was there something more to these whispers? I stood up, brushing the dirt off my jeans, and took a few steps back. The whispers grew louder, more insistent.

I asked, still a little foggy on the details. "Well, the symptoms are consistent with Whisperbloom, but the main piece of evidence is how you reacted when you went through my garden tonight." "What? Why?" That made no sense. "Do you remember entering the garden?" she asked. "Yes," I said slowly. "And as soon as you walked in, you felt weak, right?" "Yes," I said, surprised by her knowledge. "That's because I have Silkgaze in my garden," she said in answer. "Silkgaze is one of the main ingredients to the Whisperbloom antidote, but without the other ingredients it has a terrible side effect.

One that seemed like they indeed knew each other just took well. “I wonder what we Silvers saw in you. We must have been blind. I must have been blind.” Wait, even the Silvers know this guy? He breathes next to my ear. I can smell the hot metal from here. The next minute I feel it searing pain on my skin by my lower back. I wail from the pain and my breath is gone. I see white.
