My eyes almost popped out when I saw the train frozen just a few inches away from me. What happened?! I saw a shadow of a person standing behind me. I turned and saw a familiar yet unknown face staring blankly at me. He was wearing a linen black cloak. His height was towering me and his long dark hair was messed up by the calm blows of the wind. The headlights of the train projected a shadow of the perfect sculpt of his nose. He looked like a carved masterpiece of a cherubim and his eyes were glistening with the moonlight’s reflection. He’s prettier than me!

"But not in drug development like you, Professor Hughes. That's too advanced for me. I'm just an ordinary person." When Jim met Simon earlier, the latter was driving a Bentley. There was no way Simon could be an ordinary person.

She is still unconscious because of the brutal attack. I wonder what would have happened if we didn’t reach that clearing in time. The thought nauseates me. Later, as I step outside for air, I notice Bronze standing with Simon. “Check every wing of the trainee complex,” Bronze orders him. “Make sure they’re all present. Lockdown the area if you find anything off.” Simon nods and walks away. I stand back, watching. I know him well. He looks calm from the outside but he’s scared. Maybe even guilty.

I look at my screen, hoping it would request for me stand and leave the station to start my life within a society of cheering people. Instead, a giant red X comes across my screen. Some people gasp, standing quickly. I watch them, envious as they clamber off the train. It’s only three of people. The crowd outside the train cheer, throwing pink and green streamers into the air as the three fresh immortals come from the train. They are embraced and handed cases. I assume it’s the bare essentials to start a life. It was the last thing I saw before the train started up again.

He wiped his neck and looked down at his hand before looking at Sage again. "Have fun eating with your family. After today, you really might not return to this," he said and stormed out of the place. Sapphire gave Sage one last confused look before following after Simon and the place turned quiet again. Simone's lips curled into a smile and she knew right there that her trainings had not been in vain. It was only a matter of time before he would identify what his ability was and she wished the time would come soon.

However, that is Owen's expertise and something that he can do in the morning. Simon then leaves the Boutique, gets into his car, then heads out of the city and back to the pack territory. Once there, he heads back to the barracks and meets up with Owen, who has half a dozen males with him. Simon smiles. These males are perfect. However, he knows that Lavinia will do what he has asked her to do and they won't need them.

He nodded instead, his head tilted slightly in ascent. "You will meet him tomorrow," he said, smooth, controlled. "He is one of the best. If anyone can push you to your limits, it's him." I raised an eyebrow. "One of the best? Not the best? Simeon let out a low chuckle, the corner of his mouth curving upward in a smirk. "You think I'd let you train with the best before?”

Turning inwards and losing sight of myself being carted away. “Hold on, Eden…. I'll speed run, hold on. Just stay with me, I'll get your dad.” Simon’s voice trembles as he latches an arm around me securely at waist height, then one down my legs so I won't fall as he hits super speed. He runs like the wind, jolting me about as I cling to my abdomen and his shoulder and try to ebb the flowing river of red we’re leaving in our wake, counting down the seconds as life fades. Darkness is growing, and lightheadedness is trying to remove my consciousness. Pain is there, but it seems so distant that it’s barely touching me. Everything is surreal.

Our footsteps echoed slightly. “Luck is on our side, Carl. There’s a train already here.” As the door behind us automatically resealed itself noisily, I focused on the red train in front of us. It looked like a high speed magnetic train one might find in Japan or Europe, not some American Amtrak passenger train. There were six train cars. The first five looked unoccupied. The sixth car looked very full. “Don’t stare at the occupants of the rear car, Carl. Try to walk as normally as you can and pretend you’re not injured. It is important that you and I look as nonchalant as possible.”

Chapter 2: Train to the Center Artemis, I sighed as I look to my boyfriend one last time. He gave me a thumbs up and showed a very bright smile. That brought smile on my plum lips as I board this magnetic levitating train. This is a model of a subway from the twenty first century that has been modified. Before fully turning my back to the crowd, I waved my left hand as a sign of farewell. Even though I am not that tall, my head don’t have a chance to hit the doorway, I still lowered my head as I enter the train.
