A plan had hatched that very night, a plan to manoeuvre the chess pieces where I needed them to be, to take my Queen now and forever. A voice breaks through my revere “Sir” I open one eye, enraged at the insolence of the driver lowering the privacy barrier and daring to disturb my relaxation. “Apologies Sir but Lord Ercan is on the line, he states it is most urgent and your private phone is still turned off” I let a snarl out to show my displeasure.

"His name is Simon. Like us, he's an ability user. His power is… communicating with satellites and reading all server data, bypassing any firewall." What a useless ability! No—wait. If the government was only lying low for now, and the major military regions were still preserving their strength, then advanced weapons should still be functional. Simon could communicate with satellites and ignore firewalls—did that mean he might be able to control those weapons? Seeing Ray's expression grow serious, Channing immediately laughed. "It's probably not as powerful as you imagine. Simon can only read information. He can't issue any commands." Ah. Then it really was useless.

My eyes almost popped out when I saw the train frozen just a few inches away from me. What happened?! I saw a shadow of a person standing behind me. I turned and saw a familiar yet unknown face staring blankly at me. He was wearing a linen black cloak. His height was towering me and his long dark hair was messed up by the calm blows of the wind. The headlights of the train projected a shadow of the perfect sculpt of his nose. He looked like a carved masterpiece of a cherubim and his eyes were glistening with the moonlight’s reflection. He’s prettier than me!

"But not in drug development like you, Professor Hughes. That's too advanced for me. I'm just an ordinary person." When Jim met Simon earlier, the latter was driving a Bentley. There was no way Simon could be an ordinary person.

She is still unconscious because of the brutal attack. I wonder what would have happened if we didn’t reach that clearing in time. The thought nauseates me. Later, as I step outside for air, I notice Bronze standing with Simon. “Check every wing of the trainee complex,” Bronze orders him. “Make sure they’re all present. Lockdown the area if you find anything off.” Simon nods and walks away. I stand back, watching. I know him well. He looks calm from the outside but he’s scared. Maybe even guilty.

I look at my screen, hoping it would request for me stand and leave the station to start my life within a society of cheering people. Instead, a giant red X comes across my screen. Some people gasp, standing quickly. I watch them, envious as they clamber off the train. It’s only three of people. The crowd outside the train cheer, throwing pink and green streamers into the air as the three fresh immortals come from the train. They are embraced and handed cases. I assume it’s the bare essentials to start a life. It was the last thing I saw before the train started up again.

He wiped his neck and looked down at his hand before looking at Sage again. "Have fun eating with your family. After today, you really might not return to this," he said and stormed out of the place. Sapphire gave Sage one last confused look before following after Simon and the place turned quiet again. Simone's lips curled into a smile and she knew right there that her trainings had not been in vain. It was only a matter of time before he would identify what his ability was and she wished the time would come soon.

However, that is Owen's expertise and something that he can do in the morning. Simon then leaves the Boutique, gets into his car, then heads out of the city and back to the pack territory. Once there, he heads back to the barracks and meets up with Owen, who has half a dozen males with him. Simon smiles. These males are perfect. However, he knows that Lavinia will do what he has asked her to do and they won't need them.

Millie lifted her gaze and replied calmly, "I went to meet a friend. What about you?" Simon pursed his lips before answering, "I just ended work." Millie merely hummed in acknowledgment. Outside, the thunder rumbled, causing her to shrink back instinctively. Simon glanced at her. He was just about to ask if she was afraid of thunder when the car behind them suddenly caught his attention. It was a black Maybach with the license plate YAA-888. Was that… Winston's car?

Turning inwards and losing sight of myself being carted away. “Hold on, Eden…. I'll speed run, hold on. Just stay with me, I'll get your dad.” Simon’s voice trembles as he latches an arm around me securely at waist height, then one down my legs so I won't fall as he hits super speed. He runs like the wind, jolting me about as I cling to my abdomen and his shoulder and try to ebb the flowing river of red we’re leaving in our wake, counting down the seconds as life fades. Darkness is growing, and lightheadedness is trying to remove my consciousness. Pain is there, but it seems so distant that it’s barely touching me. Everything is surreal.
