one officer whispered to another, barely trying to hide his grin as I walked past.
“Of course,” the other replied, leaning closer as if I couldn’t hear them. “They’ve got a whole betting pool going in the precinct about who the killer is. My money’s still on Isabella. She’s got that cold, calculating vibe, you know?”
The first officer chuckled. “Nah, I’m leaning towards the kid. He’s too quiet, too calm. People like that? Always hiding something.”
