I rolled and sent a wave of absolute-zero frost across the floor, hoping to brittle their joints, but the heating elements in their armour hummed to life, neutralizing the attack instantly ​"Silas, finish the sequence," Lilith commanded, her voice dropping to a low, lethal register. The woman pulled back her purple hood with a clawed hand, and the moonlight catching the jagged, ruined left side of her face. The severe scars from the river rocks pulled her lip into a tight, ugly sneer, her dark eye burning with pure madness and hatred. It was Lilith. She stood on the cliff, looking down at Elena and Julian with a cruel, mocking smile. "Look at you two," Lilith’s voice echoed down the ravine, rough and sweet as poison. "Playing house in the snow while your fortress bleeds."

And outside, I heard a whisper—not from the trees, not from the wind—but from something far older. “She is born of moon and ruin.
