My resolve wavered for a moment, but I clenched my jaw and replied, "Yes, it didn't have to, but it did, and it's not my fault. There's no going back now; all that's left is for you to accept my rejection." He stepped closer, his voice pleading, "Isadora, please. Just take some time to rethink things. You don't have to leave like this."

He glared at them before taking his sketchbook and storming off. Skyler was sitting somewhere and waiting but seeing him storming out with an angry face made her smile. "So what happened? You couldn't do your designs without me?" She smirked at him. "Actually we are not getting accepted, I stole your past work and it got rejected which means whatever you have there with you will also get rejected" he sounded so sure. Sunny came out. "Skyler Wang?" She called and Skyler stood up with a smile. "Here" she raised her hands and began moving forward but stopped after a few steps.

I said, my voice tight, as I swallowed hard. I shrugged, trying to make it sound like it didn't matter. "He said he was bored with me. He…." "Bored?" Stiles stepped closer. "You mean Sky?” I nodded slowly, forcing a tough smirk. “He said it was just a fling. Just… he really wasn't into me or anything. He doesn't want the bond. That night, I couldn't sleep at all. I sat by my window, watching the stars wheel slowly across the sky, and thought about all the ways my life could go wrong. What if they rejected me? What if I stayed here forever, frozen in this limbo between my old life and a new one that might never materialize? What if Alec was right to reject me? What if I were fundamentally unworthy of love, of success, of happiness? The thoughts spiraled darker and darker until I had to press my hands over my ears as if I could physically block them out.

I sipped my tea and turned the TV on. “You never did like Blake much.” Helen’s tone was matter of fact. My lips parted. “What?” “Oh, it's obvious,” Helen said and shrugged.
