He is still young, and I think he could still do great, but the fire really messed him up. The other one is Chief. Chapter 2: Rebel ~Wren~ I slink in through the loose shingles on the roof, softly landing in our makeshift hideout loft. It isn’t much, honestly, it looks like a child’s playhouse, but when all the outliers are beggars or thieves, it’s hard to come by nice things for a rebel headquarters. We are lucky that Ms. Grayford is deaf and never travels upstairs. Not that she would care if she did. She hates Alpha Alden as much as we all do.

“What about Caleb, isn't he back from school?” My mom nodded. “Yes, he's taking extra classes starting today.” ‘Oh…. I see..” —--- I returned to my room, and spent the remaining day working on my sketches. Call me a hopeless romantic but half of my sketches contained Jake's portraits. Whenever he wasn't looking or just being casual, I sketch him ... .that was the only way I felt closer to him. Yes, I was way out of his league, I wasn't the girl he'd go for. I mean he had told me countless times, and rejected my gifts to him but yet I couldn't seem to erase my feelings for him. Watching him from afar was enough for me even if I don't get to have him.

I refuse to allow myself to look away. After my eyes adjust, I look around at my surroundings. The sky stretches endlessly above me, gray-blue and streaked with slow-moving clouds. I stare at it like it might disappear if I blink too long. I forgot how big it was. Forgot how... exposed it feels. Like standing under something that sees everything. "Move," the guard snaps behind me. This time, I do. The path curves away from the prison, winding along the mountainside until it opens into a wide clearing carved into the rock. And that's where I see them.

She closes her brown eyes and next they know,she opens them again, but now with a hazel glint shining in them. The Rebel was in control. Let the fight begin.

It was our only hope of survival. "Three! Two! One! Jump!" I shouted at the top of my lungs. Then, I didn't hesitate while leading Serena to jump out the door. A deafening explosion rang behind us almost as soon as I charged out the door. The overwhelming impact sent me rolling on the ground. It felt like my eardrums had been shattered. All I could see was the color white and nothing else. I also couldn't hear anything save for the endless ringing after the explosion. "Winifred! Winifred, are you okay? Can you hear me?"
