It lasted approximately six minutes before the boys got bored and demanded something scarier. “No horror,” I said firmly. “Just a little spooky,” Eddie begged. I caved and chose The Haunted Lighthouse, a mildly eerie kids’ movie with a ghost dog and a friendly skeleton. Halfway through, Mr. Speedy mysteriously vanished. “Where’s my turtle?” Oliver wailed. Chaos erupted. Pillows flew. Flashlights beamed under furniture. Claire nearly fell off the couch laughing. After ten minutes, we found Mr. Speedy under the coffee table, wedged behind a stack of comic books, casually eating a gummy worm.

‎ ‎"So you'll follow me to the slumber party tonight. We're wearing a pink pyjamas and everyone is expected to bring their favorite snacks and-" ‎ ‎"Wait, hold on. What did you just say? Slumber party?" ‎ ‎Roxie flashes me an enthusiastic grin. "I know you'll feel overwhelmed but it's necessary. You need to stop being cooped up in your room and make friends. It's weird that your roommate is your only friend." ‎ ‎I frown. "I thought you loved being my only friend!" ‎ ‎"I absolutely do, but you need at least two more." ‎ ‎I shake my head. I rubbed my eyes and looked over at Jake and Violet, they were both asleep on the couch while Nick and Penny were watching the live action Aladdin. Samantha glanced up and smiled at me. “Good afternoon sleepyhead.” Checking the clock, I was surprised to see it was after 1 in the afternoon. “I thought I set the alarm...” I started as I snaked my arm around her and pulled her even closer.

“Go get your things. I’ll see if Zoey wants to join us…is that ok?” She nodded and left to get her bag. A few moments later, Zoey knocked before Sadie came back. “Hey Z, go get your shit. Cleo stuck with plain colored nails, but they looked sleek and extra shiny. “The next appointment should be here in about 20 minutes. Want to dig into this candy?” Cleo said, waggling her eyebrows. We spent the next 10 or 15 minutes dancing to music that Cleo referred to as “official slumber party music”. It was a band called the spice girls and I was jumping around like a kindergartener, too sugared up from the candy and too boozed up from the margaritas to care what I looked like. Penelope’s POV I stuffed the last shirt into my overnight bag and yanked the zipper shut. The clock on my nightstand read 7:15 AM—I’d barely slept at all, my mind racing about this visit I’d promised. Going back to Darkwood territory after all these years felt like walking into a cage I’d barely escaped. “Mom, where are you going?” Debbie’s small figure appeared in my doorway, Sparkles the unicorn dangling from her hand. Her bright green eyes blinked up at me, worry written across her little face.

Amira's POV The surroundings were so quiet, only the tick-tocking of the wall clock can be heard. The surroundings were so dim and only the flare outside gives light. I can hear the voices of the night. I close my eyes again and force myself to sleep, I imagined Sadako coming out from the T. V but I forgot we don't have T. V. I imagine slendrina watching me in the corner. I think about those scary stories and movies to drive me off to sleep but none of them have work. I spun my gaze into Patty and lucky her for taking a peaceful sleep that I couldn't have now.

I look over to the clock on the wall and read that the time is 2am. “What in the…” I say to myself , confused as fuck. The theme song quietens down but it is still playing. I briskly walk towards my door. Upon opening the door , I hear giggling that fills the hallways. I put my head out my door and see a blanket being pulled around the corner.

*** She groaned in her sleep but that didn't drive his attention away from the large glass window. She stirred, slowly waking up from her slumber. She smiled when she remembered the events of last night before letting her eyes opened. She turned only to find the other side of the bed empty. This was not how she expected her morning after a mind blowing sex to play out. She looked around until her eyes landed on the figure that was staring out in space. She watched him for a while as he stood in front of the glass window. The day was still dark but she was guessing the time to be around 6 in the morning.
