I look at Rachel clearing my throat, it felt like I had swallowed a slew of iron hot stones and my throat felt raw and raspy. "Can you pour me a drink please?" I ask, taking the cup from her offering hands when she's done. As if I were a dehydrated fish, I swiftly swallow it down, savouring the sensation of the cool liquid sliding down my throat, quenching the fire-like sensation, and continuing with my statement.

Something that Cord was undergoing all by himself and certainly it wasn’t just because of hunger. “I understand, Milord, ” Jerome stated, but he knew deep inside he was still trying to process the change. Cord took a taste of the blood. First, it was just a sip. Then, a full gulp. He cringed thereafter, clearly not liking it. “This is not the same taste as hers but it will do, ” he remarked. “Enough to quell my thirst.” “Then I’ll take my leave now, Milord, and give you privacy, ” Jerome bowed low again and stepped out of the dais with the silver tray in hand.

Urijah now asks him, as the woman begins to fill the glasses one by one, passing them out to us, and Michael grabs his glass right away, downing the contents of it, like it had been years since he had a glass of water. Taking my own glass in my hands, I took it to my lips, and began to let the cool liquid flow freely into my mouth and down my throat, quenching my dire thirst. I realized quickly that this wasn’t water as the substance began to slightly burn my throat, and I knew that there had to be alcohol in it, but I was so damn thirsty, I didn’t care at this moment what it was.

He smiled and her stomach churned as tears burned her vision. "Let me go," she said, trying to loosen his hold on her neck. The thirst was increasing with each passing second as she stared at the glass of blood with dilated pupils. "Give in, Evelyn. Drink it." Simon urged the glass forward and with a scream, she pushed his hand away as some of the blood splattered on his hand, the glass crashed on the floor and there was a lot of blood. She gulped, trying to wet her parched throat but it was as if the thirst had only increased.

After being dehydrated for so long, she immediately noticed I had swallowed something. “Where are you? Are you… drinking water? Get back here now! The water’s been cut off at home. We’re all dying of thirst!” I glanced around the small basement. One entire wall was stocked with food, along with plenty of snacks and drinks. It looked just like a small supermarket. I then said, “I’m… somewhere safe. “I’m not drinking water. I’m drinking ice-cold soda. “I won’t be coming home. You know how it is. It’s a scorching 140 °F outside. Stepping outside is a death sentence.”

JESSICA’S POV The sun setting through the small holes of North Spire was not beautiful. It was a bloody screaming orange that made the stone walls bleed with fresh blood. I was sitting on the end of the cot, and my fingers were doing the chilled silver of the collar. Whenever I thought about Kai the metal throbbed and would hurt me with a sharp piercing pain, reminding me that I was disconnected. The Bond-Thirst had developed--a hollow, aching hunger in my marrow only to be appeased by the smell of an Alpha. It was missing, and I felt my skin was tight, my blood too thin.

I ask. Rich just smiles like I didn’t just snap at him. “Trying to get some work done. But you need to drink.” I eye the glass warily. He tilts his head, expression calm but expectant. “Come on, you’re not gonna make me force-feed you water, are you?” Hesitating for a second then I reach out and take the glass. It’s cool against my palm, the condensation slicking my fingers. I take a small sip, letting it sit on my tongue before swallowing. The water feels like heaven against my dry throat.

I nod, my mouth suddenly dry, and walk over to him, trying to ignore the fluttering in my stomach. He hands me a towel with a smirk on his face, and I can feel the heat rising to my cheeks once again. "Could you, help dry me off? It's usually hard drying my back but since you're here, I'm sure you wont have a problem helping me would you?" he asks, his tone teasing. I swallow hard, my throat feeling suddenly parched, but I nod in response, trying to mask the turmoil of emotions swirling inside me.
