Charlie caught the scent of her perfume and heard her laughter with Jerry. She had been in a good mood just a moment ago, but now she was putting on a professional smile for him.
His eyes darkened with sadness. “Mm, I’m going to meet a friend. You and Jerry can go shopping, enjoy the party.”
