Smith gave her that smirk. “I'll do better. I'll take you to one. But first, story time.”
He sat on a broken chair like it was throne.
“Once upon a time,” he began, “there were two brothers. One strong and stupid, one smart and curious. Their father was pack leader, getting old, getting weak. Time for him to pick his successor.
“Smith,” Kai warned.
“The smart brother had ideas. New way to run things. Peace with witches. Alliances with covens. But daddy didn’t like it. He wanted tradition. Wanted to keep wolves separate. Special. Pure.”
