Ichabod could perceive the scent of dried herbs mixed with chemicals. “Is there no one here?” Ichabod asked quietly, peering into the darkness to see Adam;s wrinkled face but somehow, the whole place was brightened up for him to see they were in what looked like a very old pharmacy with shelves and chemicals, yet there was no one in sight. So who had put on the light? Adams walked to the sales counter which had a small bell on it, Adams tipped against it but no sound could be heard. He did it again but yet no sound. With a grown, he shouted. “Johnny get your wrinkly self over here, your stupid bell is not working again!”

I breathe in her scent. “Have you eaten? Those monsters didn’t feed you right?” She pulls back, turns me around to check my body. “I’m fine Nonna.” I laugh. “How are you? How did you sleep?” “Good enough for a hospital. Drop that phone, young man.” She scolds Nick. “You spend too much time on your screen and it has affected your eye. That’s why you couldn’t see the bullet coming your way.” “Nonna! That’s not fair.” Nick pouts. “Besides, you know I don’t like looking at the TV. If I was back in the estate, at least I will busy in the garden or working in the stables.”

The kitchen was dark except for the little glow from under-cabinet lighting, and I was pouring myself a glass when I heard footsteps behind me. "You couldn't sleep either?" Adrian asked, and I turned to find him standing in the doorway wearing nothing but low-slung sweatpants that showed off the defined V of his hips. "Something like that," I said, taking a drink and trying not to stare. Adrian moved into the kitchen and grabbed a glass, standing close enough that I could feel the heat radiating off his skin when I poured for him. "Your event planner is very attractive," Adrian said suddenly. I nearly choked on my wine. "What?"

she says slyly and walks back to her seat. She has style. He picks up the wine and drinks it in two big gulps. Nova looks smug. Luckily Max doesn’t notice any of this. He’s too busy running his hands through his hair and his eyes darting around the room while he tries to figure out what to say.

I barely heard the woman's voice; holding the door knob I took a deep breath before entering the room. "Mrs Danty?" I asked, standing awkwardly at the doorway of her office. "Yes, come in. Mrs Roberts I presume?" I nodded. "Take a seat." I gave her a small smile before sitting down on the comfortable sofa. "Let's start with the reason you came here." She brought out a small clipboard and pen and waited for me to begin speaking. I looked up at the woman in front of me, she was skinny and very beautiful, her almond coloured eyes appeared almost cat like in the sun and her long brunette hair flowed elegantly to her chest. She couldn't be more than thirty five.

the blonde said. The owner flared up. “You mean that obnoxious fool. Oh, he’s so stupid.” The blonde choked on her coffee. “What do you mean, Ms. Morgan? How did he offend you?” “I don’t want to talk about it.” “Well I think he’s really attractive really and you probably blushed when you saw him. You get flushed quickly you know,” the blonde teased and waggled her eyebrows. “Sandra!” Morgan busted. “Stop teasing me, ok. He was rude and I hated him because of that. I mean, I hated him at first sight.”

the Dj suddenly changed the beat to slow and tense music. I don't know if it is the music or not but I can see the sudden change in his expression. it shifts from a goofy one to a serious one. It looks more intense than it has ever been. he begins to stare down at me and I wonder why the change in demeanour. I don't know why but I begin to feel butterflies in my stomach. I don't know why I suddenly begin to notice how attractive he is. not that I didn't notice earlier but his lips begin to look sexier as he stares down at me.

He had a smug, arrogant smirk fixed on his face, the kind of expression common in wealthy men who believed the entire world belonged to them just because of their last name. His sister, Vivienne, looked equally snobbish, her eyes constantly scanning the room as if everything around her was beneath her standard. As the waiters poured the expensive red wine, Sebastian cut a piece of his steak and looked up at me. "Your corporate growth over the last two years has been very impressive, Mr. Vane," Sebastian said, his tone casual but his eyes remaining completely fixed on my face. "Vane Industries is becoming a monster in this region. It must take a lot of work to protect an empire like that."
