I slumped in the chair and stalked the movement of his hands with my half-mast gaze. "Destroying what should have been destroyed years ago." With those whispered words, he brought the dancing flame to the cover of the book. Flames licked around the edges, blackening the pages until they withered and became a pale white. The ashes trickled down like the beginning of snow on a blistering winter night. Snow. Such a pure element to think of under such circumstances. Snow resembled a blank slate, new beginnings. Maybe this could have been what this was if I had burned the damn book the moment it landed in my possession.

I looked on in rage as a bunch of black wolves attacked Alzaraq, bitting at his arms and pinning him down. "No!" If they win, it's over for us. It was so fast. A speeding wolf grabbed Snow by the throat, bitting at her neck and I watched as her blood spurted out from her throat. "NICHA!!!" I bellowed, picking up my swords and driving them into the Wolf's side.. Bloody, Snow fell to the ground. Slowly reverting back to her human form. I picked her and cracked away, running as fast as I could until I got to the slope that led down to her little village.

VANESSA'S POV The first snow fell in earnest, blanketing the territory in a deep, silencing white. The world narrowed to the warmth of the lodge, the scent of stew simmering over the hearth, and the soft murmur of the pack gathered inside. The frantic energy of growth and rebuilding had given way to the quiet introspection of winter. It was a time for stories, for memory, for taking stock.

However, the truth was, my name had been cleared. I took care of everything and sold the old house, ready to leave it all behind. Hank sent word he wanted to meet, but I did not want to see him. Outside, the snowmen stood like silent guests waiting for a wedding that would never happen. Nancy, with hands purple from the cold, drew a smile on a snowman's face. She smiled at me, just a little. She looked the same as always, but she seemed really tired. When I opened the door, she ran right into my arms.

The others hurriedly attack me, and I can feel my wolf threaten to take over. My nails are out, and so are my teeth. I claw into their arms. The plan is not to kill them, I don't even have the time for any of that. I hold one of them by the throat. “Where is Nova?” I ask again, threatening to sink my claw into his throat. “The warehouse down the road,” he says quickly, and I finally let him go. I am just about to climb my motorcycle again, when I smell something. It is the unmistakable smell of silver. I feel my heart beat accelerate. Who do they use it on?

Lila’s POV I stumbled out of the cab and the cold air hit my face hard enough to make the world tilt. My phone kept buzzing in my bag but I ignored it and leaned against a brick wall to catch my breath. Snow fell soft and quiet around me and the streetlights blurred into halos. I knew what waited if I looked online. My name was everywhere. My face next to Zane’s with headlines screaming mistress and homewrecker and gold-digger. Tomorrow would be hell but tonight I just needed to forget.

When he turns back to face me, my lips tremble, and I stammer out a single word: "Vivaldi." His eyes gleam with amusement as he licks the Hunter's blood from his fingers, raising an eyebrow in a playful waggle. "It is I, Snowboy," he says with a smirk, like a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar—or in this case, the blood.

Continuing their exploration through the book, he turned to a specific page, and Jennifer bent down to examine a sketch of her wolf. “It’s-” she began. “It’s the rarest kind,” he interrupted, his voice taking on a mysterious tone. “A cursed wolf named ‘Snow.’ A beautiful creature who could blend into the snow with her white coat. But her story took a tragic turn when she fell in love with the head Alpha of a pack, not knowing he was already married to a witch.” As he recounted the tale, he skillfully wove a vivid picture of the forbidden romance between the white wolf and the Alpha, their bond as destined mates, and the rage of the witch when she discovered their connection.

Part One: Eyes of the Wolf Jamie Dalton lifted the grocery bag filled with Halloween candy and took a moment to inhale the aroma drifting from it. For most people Christmas was their favorite holiday but Jamie had always loved Halloween. From the time she was nine years old she made up fanciful stories about the night, stories of goblins and ghosts and all manner of creatures. As she got older the stories became more intricate, the characters more detailed. By the time she was an adult she was weaving in erotic scenes and drooling over the heroines she created.

Yeah, I know, I'm weird. As I lay there, wrapped in my sleeping bag, I couldn't help but notice that I didn't feel the cold, despite the chilly rain. In fact, I never felt cold during the winter months, nor did I feel the heat during summer. It was like I was immune to the weather. Weird, huh? I guess I'm not quite human. Eventually, the rain stopped, and the moon emerged from behind the clouds. It was full and bright, like it was smiling down at me.
