“You’d think my Mama didn’t raise me right,” she said, looking over at Brad. “Brad, this is my assistant, Marty Stillwater. Marty, this is my friend, Brad Storm. He lives just across the street.”
“Of course,” Marty said, stepping further into the office and offering his hand. “You’re the writer. My husband’s a fan. Maybe I could get your autograph for him.”
Brad shifted uncomfortably in his seat; he always felt like an imposter when asked for his autograph. “Sure. I have extra copies of my last book, Suburban Gothic. I could sign one, make sure Neisha gets it to you.”
