It didn't carry a gun; its entire right forearm was a sonic lance, capable of liquefying a werewolf’s internal organs with a single burst. "The 'Chosen One' has left the mountains," the Sentinel reported, its voice a synthesized drone. "The Prism is stable. The 'Anomalous Chord' is being modulated by a creative frequency."

"You old bastard! That's for bullying my dad!" He was Nicky Yates, Caleb's five-year-old son, conceived via IVF after more than a dozen attempts. Emery's entire family treasured him like royalty and spoiled him rotten. I grabbed Nicky by the scruff of his neck, hoisted him up, and delivered a sharp smack to his butt. "If your father won't teach you basic manners, I'll gladly do it today!" Nicky wrapped his arms around my thigh and bit down hard. I grunted in pain and instinctively threw him off me.

I can feel the heat of their bodies, but the air between us feels like a barrier I need to smash. "Please," I rasp. My voice is wrecked. "Please, I need... I’m so empty." Prime chuckles. It is a dark, cruel sound. He walks up to me until his chest is inches from my nose. He smells of cedar, smoke, and raw male power. He reaches out, but he doesn't touch my skin. He just holds his hand near my face, letting me smell the musk on his skin. "You want this, Omega?" Prime asks. "You want to be the pack’s whore tonight? You want us to fill every hole until you can’t remember your own name?"

The machine raised a hand, and a blade of pure energy ignited from its wrist. It didn't lunge. it teleported.

"Those aren't men. Those are monsters..." The lead entity paused at the base of the cliff. It tilted its head back, its jaw unhinging with a wet, sickening crack as it let out a sound that wasn't a roar—it was a high-pitched, vibrating shriek that bypassed the ears and vibrated directly inside the human mercenaries' skulls. Three of the elite guards instantly dropped to their knees, blood erupting from their ears and noses as their brains violently misfired under the sonic assault.

Caspian shouted. Suddenly, the north wall disintegrated. Four men in matte-black tactical gear descended on fast-ropes. These weren't regular soldiers; they were the Reapers, the Old Guard’s personal cleanup crew. They didn't carry rifles; they carried high-output sonic cannons designed to disrupt neural tissue. Whump. The first sonic blast hit the room. The frequency was so high it turned Caspian’s vision into a blur of grey static. He collapsed to his knees, his ears bleeding.
