When Aiden's eyes land on the fire pit, his stomach drops. The fire pit was lined with large rocks, and little Eli stood on top of one, readying himself to jump to the next one. The little boy jumps, and as he lands, his foot slips, and he begins falling into the fire. Aiden is too far away; he will never make it there in time.

It makes me feel grounded. I take in the sights in front of me. First off, I'm not sure Ike knows what a bonfire is, because this isn't a bonfire. They've got store bought fire pits set up in the middle of the clearing, about four of them, rather than one large fire. Each has its own group of people sitting around it, some in chairs, some on the ground. There was music coming from somewhere, though I wasn't sure where yet. It sounded like a radio station. I could smell alcohol and meat cooking. My stomach growled at me, reminding me that I had not eaten dinner yet. I knew where my first stop would be. "Are you hungry?" Ike asks, looking down at me.

After grabbing some food, Celeste and I make ourselves comfortable near the roaring bonfire, perching on a rough, weathered log. Each of us holds a hot dog in one hand and a soda in the other, admiring the crackling fire. The mammoth flames send sparks into the cool night air, casting flickering shadows across the faces of the gathered crowd.

Crystalline water spurted upwards into the blue sky and downward into the hollow space in fours in a straight line. Behind, there was an outdoor fire pit with unblemished white cushioned chairs for recreation as borders. In the fire pit, the Kirkgardes traded tired looking fire logs, lava rocks or wood with elegant well-polished reflective gray fireglass. Fireglasses are recycled glass polished to sin. They sparkle like soft diamonds as yellow flames stained with blue dance lightly on them. It had a fire and ice look that only added to it's beauty.

Josh said with a sigh. "I don't just burn things," Dimitri defended himself. "We hold a giant bonfire to bring the community together. Everyone but Josh here seems to love it." "Isn't it too hot for a bonfire in Florida?" Colton asked as he glanced over at Dimitri, one eyebrow cocked. "Exactly!" Josh said, throwing his arms up in the air. "There's a perfectly good bar, just up the road, with air-conditioning and everything we need for bonding."

In the center of the clearing stood a large stone fire pit, where a warm fire was already crackling, thanks to Storm's earlier preparations. Ryker pulled out a cooler filled with beers and snacks, while Blaze and Rain worked on setting up comfortable seating around the fire. Storm joined me, and we sat down together, watching the flames dance and listening to the crackling of the wood. "This is exactly what we needed," I said, snuggling into Storm's side. "A night to relax, unwind, and enjoy each other's company."

The window opened. She went through the skylight. The warehouse floor was cold and vast. She moved along the east wall with the practiced speed of someone who understood that the difference between being seen and not being seen was almost always pace. She reached the east corner staging materials and assessed them rapidly. Not evidence. Equipment. The specific professional equipment of a man preparing a final move. She photographed everything and transmitted it to Lucia. "Sienna." Lucia's voice had shifted. "He was not planning to run. He was planning to burn it. The staging point. Everything connecting him to the network. He was going to disappear into the fire."

“This night isn’t ending at the table. It’s too fine an evening for that. We’re going to have a bonfire. Out back, by the stone pit. I’ll get the wood. Damian, Jonathan, come help me.” Jonathan groaned playfully but rose, Damian following him eagerly. I watched them through the window as they carried logs across the yard, the last of the sun spilling golden light over the fields and the stable. Beyond the gardens, the dark stone circle of the fire pit waited, half-buried in years of family memories, and I could already imagine the glow of flames dancing against the night. My hand grips my phone so hard, I fear it might crack. Andrei walks into the room with a tablet in his hands. "You should see this" He says as he hands the tablet to me. I take it and begin to read the news displayed on it. Two of the Italian mafia owned hotels just exploded, taking hundreds of lives in it, The headline read. Above the headline is the picture of the buildings burnt to the ground. The air leaving my nostrils feels hot against my skin. I'm practically seething.

Perse said. “He’s got more than five supernatural powers within him.” “Have you ever heard of Pyrokinesis?” Perse asked and I thought for a while. “Isn’t that the controlling of fire with mind? Or fire manipulation, something like that?” I asked and they both nodded. “He has that ability too” She whispered and a light gasp escaped my lips. “So be careful” she added and I nodded even though I didn't mean it. How dare he hurt me? He messed with the wrong girl, I’m going to have my pound of flesh, no matter what.
