Marcus, standing guard near Sarah, turned with a frown.
"We have company."
From the thinning mist ahead, a figure emerged. She was alone, but the darkness around her made her presence feel like an approaching army. Her hair shimmered like black silk, her skin pale as moonlight, and her eyes—those cold, unblinking eyes—glowed with unnatural power.
"No," Emma whispered. "It can’t be."
"Sophia?" Steve stepped forward in disbelief. "You were dead."
Sophia smiled—a slow, venomous curve of her lips. "So were you, once."
