The Black Wolf
In the quiet of the boy’s home, Xareth performed a ritual, his body writhing with demonic energy, muttering incantations in a tongue that hurt to hear.
A cold wind swept through the room. I saw it. The boy’s soul. It floated gently from his body, confused, trembling, until the shadows pulled it from the room.
“What’s happening?” I asked, horror gripping me.
Zevarion’s voice was grim. “He’s taking the boy’s body.”
I watched as Xareth stepped through the doorway, walked up to the boy’s limp form, and entered it. Slipped inside like a serpent into a hollow shell.
A moment later, the grim reaper appeared, faceless, cloaked in black, and silently took the boy’s soul away.
