Lucian's Undoing
Like a thousand whispers, gnawing, slithering through marrow.
The Souleaters appeared.
Monstrous things, translucent and crawling, faceless mouths opening wide to suck the very essence from their victims.
Lucian roared, lightning bursting from his palms, lashing through one. It shrieked—but didn’t die.
"They don’t bleed!" someone shouted. A soldier. His voice broke. "They don’t have anything to bleed!"
Another Souleater lunged.
Lucian struck again. And again. But there were too many.
A claw scraped his side. Cold invaded his bones. Memory flickered. He forgot his own name.
