None of the books I read explained why vampires weren't immortal, and I can't exactly tell Helen that I’m basically a transmigrated stranger. "I can't seem to remember it clearly. Can you explain it to me?” I went with the honest, humble-student route. She readjusted her seat before launching into the story. Apparently, thousands of years ago, vampires were immortal. They lived forever and could only die if they were beheaded. Nothing else worked—not fire, not a stake to the heart. Until one day, a vampire offended a powerful witch. That’s when I realized witches existed in this world too.

Raverine dodged a knife and then tilted his head back, amused by Nella’s attempt to kill him. “You…” Nella pointed at Raverine, anger flushing her entire face. “How did she die? What—” Nella stammered; tears are now rolling down her cheeks. “What happened to her…” “How would I know?” Raverine jested. “Because you are one of them!” Nella screamed. “From your speed, and agility! You are a shadow vampire!” Raverine laughed and grabbed me by my waist. “Let just say that I found my wine.”

Like the drop of a hat something comes over me. “You know what,” I slide the tray fully back onto the counter, “I will take a drink. Surprise me; just make sure it’s strong.” My head jerks in Maxwell’s direction, “And I have a feeling that he would love his drink to be extra bloody and maybe a Victoria instead of a Mary. Marys seem too uptight,” I interrupt. What kind of vampire can drink Bloody Marys anyways? Is the bartender in on his secret and he adds a little something extra to it when no one’s looking?

This time, Emily raised her head and looked him in the eye before repeating her question, “What about the Vampires! Are they real too?” “Oh? Oh! Yes, yes, they are very real and creepy. But they don’t sparkle like those stupidos show it in the TV. In reality, vampires burn in the sun” Brian rolled his eyes. He and Ralph always rolled his eyes every time, to the fact that they show vampire in a positive light to be such a mushy creature who sparkle in the sun.

After a few seconds, his eyes were locked in front again. "You can't deceive me. I only smell your scent here in the woods, so you must be alone," Jaxon said. The woman's lips painted with blood red curved slowly into a dark smile. "Did I say they are here? I did not, right?" I was confused at first. I did not understand what the woman meant. But when I heard Jaxon's loud curses, realization dawned on me that made my eyes widen in horror. "I wonder how your pack would face a battalion of matured vampires without their Alpha?"

I shrugged, popping a piece of the marshmallow popcorn and my tastebuds explode at the sweetness. Karina sighs, shaking her head in disappointment. She clicks a button, and the projector crystalizes the images into a 4D experience. “That’s not what I mean. Books are your escapism, and this is mine.” A brunette girl is journalling in a graveyard, a single crow landing closer to her as her voice narrators the death of her parents. “What is this?” I asked, intrigued by the eerie smog surrounding her. “It’s called The Vampire Diaries, a cultural phenomenon, a classic.” She beamed, “It was released in 2009 actually.”

His limbs were ripped from their sockets, torn apart piece by piece. “Ah,” I let out a sharp gasp watching the gruesome sight and then realizing it was no different from what Rowan wanted to do. This scene would be a ghastly feast for any vampire, a sight that was capable of satisfying their darkest and most depraved desires - blood. And yet, this was exactly the kind of slaughter that Rowan had been craving. “Are you alright?” Alpha Axel asked me suddenly, his eyes scanning my face. “Y-yes. I am,” came my reply, with an affirmative nod.
