Entities swarm from the rifts, shadowy beasts with glowing red eyes, claws like jagged knives, hissing Calix’s grudges from centuries ago. “Shit!” I yell, shadows tearing one, blood and ash spraying like a busted pipe. “Stay close, sunshine!”
“I’m good!” Raymond says, light blasting one to ash, the air stinking of charred flesh, but he’s breathing heavy, sweat dripping. “Like the blade fight?”
“Hell yeah,” I say, a claw grazing my arm, pain burning like fire. “Careful, damn it!”
