We’re still standing exactly where she left us when she strolls back in. “All done. You’re all safe now.” She’s grinning, shaking her bold head like we’re the village idiots. “Oh, and by the way,” she adds sweetly, “that’s a Mexican Red-Knee Tarantula. They don’t make webs, only silk out their burrows, Logan.” She beams at him like she’s just taught a toddler the alphabet. Logan doesn’t seem to believe her. And the brothers are suddenly fascinated by every space in the room that isn’t occupied by a human.

Spider, seated in the passenger seat, leaned forward slightly, his eyes narrowing as he studied the dark tree line on both sides of the road. “That wasn’t here yesterday,” Spider muttered. Sarah, seated in the back, looked up from her phone. “What’s wrong?” Scorpion didn’t answer right away. His gaze swept the surroundings, too quiet, too clean. No animals. No passing cars. Even the wind seemed to have gone still. “This is wrong,” Spider said flatly, turning halfway toward Sarah. “Ma’am, we need to brace for impact.” Her stomach tightened instantly. “Impact?” Spider reached for the door handle. “I’ll step out and move it.”

It was like stepping into an armory from a medieval fantasy, and I couldn’t help but feel a mix of awe and unease. I wandered further into the room, my gaze darting from one weapon to another. Some were sleek and elegant, while others were jagged and brutal-looking, their designs almost alien. My curiosity tugged at me, but before I could inspect anything too closely, I felt something brush against my leg. I froze. Slowly, I looked down, and my breath caught in my throat. A spider , no, a massive spider, was crawling up my leg. Its body was jet black, its legs long and spindly, and it was unlike any spider I had ever seen before.

I open my mouth to try again, but nothing comes out. “Gattina,” he purrs. I have no idea what that means, but damn do I love the way he says it. Heat flows down my spine, and pools between my legs. “Hi, Adam,” I finally manage to croak out, stupidly hoping he can't tell the effect he has on me. I need to focus. “I uh have to go.”

I saw the spider behind her grow slowly into a giant spider and though I love my mate so much, I would really like to clasp her mouth shut before the spider becomes into a vicious one. "You just turned it into a huge one." I murmured. Her mouth turned into a realization form as she paced her brain for a better comforting idea. I appreciate the effort but I need to get her out. If only my wolf was here, he would be able to take over. "Okay, let's kill the spider. I am scared of spiders too it's not a thing to be ashamed of. Spiders can get anywhere. They got this long six legs which are... um... not nice looking at-"

Curtis crooned, falling right into it. “I never told you who Spider really is…” I started. “It wasn’t my tale to tell. It still isn’t now, but..” I bit my bottom lip. “He’s a Kastellanos. His real name is Adrian Kastellanos and the man you found is his uncle Nikov.” “Uncle?”

Wilhelmina questioned. "Because you're rare. It's not everyday that a human will stumble into this place. But I'm lucky to find you two. Since I can fly and my consorts cannot, I get to have you all to myself," "Consorts?" Myles asked with a cocked brow. This spider was attracted to same gender? "Yeah, my male consorts," the spider clarified, sensing what was going on in the duo's heads. "Uhm, can you not eat us?" Myles entreated, "We'll exchange for our lives with all our treasure. And we'll fulfill any task you'd like us to do."

Maybe someone could even turn into an otter or a sewer rat. “We have to fight them,” Damian said grimly. “There’s no other way but straight through their nest. And you know the best part?” Fredrick muttered, “What?” “They have a broodmother. Her legs are sticking out of the cave entrance. They’re three times bigger than a normal spider’s.” Of course, the spiders had a leader. They would not move in such coordination without a mother. As far as I remembered, spiders were solitary creatures. Some even ate their own mothers after hatching, then scattered and lived alone. That was why each spider had its own web.
