Then I see the Spider-Man costume—full mask, web-shooters, the works—and reality comes flooding back.
"Jesus, Dax, what time is it?" I groan, squinting at the clock. 7:47 AM. Way too fucking early.
"It's costume day AND parent's day!" He does a backflip off the bed—okay, more like a flop, but A for effort—and strikes a superhero pose. "Where's Uncle Luke?"
"Probably in his room," I mutter, dragging myself out of bed like a zombie who's given up on life. "Go brush your teeth while I get him."
