Then after lowering my head, I read aloud the massive words on the book cover, once again, “Coalition of Animal and Spirit.” Immediately, the book on the table began to vibrate and shake as though the doing of an exterior effect. “What's going on?” All of the sudden, it finally halted and opened up, somewhere towards the middle. I looked under the table to be sure I wasn't having an illusion, but there was nothing underneath. Several pages had been marked, highlighted, and referenced. His finger stopped on one specific passage. "You need to read this." I pulled the journal closer. His fingers skimmed the symbols, recognition flashing briefly across his eyes. “You believe this will work?” he asked. “I don’t know,” Ronan snapped. “But I know standing around sniffing the fucking wind won’t.”

I picked up another book. The second book I picked, Spells of the Wild: Mystical Incantations for Shape-Shifters," was boldly written on it. Seeing that spell on top of the book piqued my interest. I flipped the first page of the book; it was empty, as was the second page. It was until the last page that I found: do you want to delve into enchantments that blur the lines between human and beast, rituals that harness the magic of transformation, and secrets of the wild waiting to be unlocked? Look for moonlight enchantments. Isn’t this kind of crazy? I had thought I would be able to find something helpful here, and now it was referring to checking for some other book. Where do I find that?

I moved away and decided to go through the files I'd taken. I saw lists of supernatural species to be hunted. He could never get enough of the game like he'd called it. Hunting our kind, hunting every kind of supernatural beings brought him pleasure. They were all pawns in his sick games. I hoped and prayed he had the answers I'd seek.

I open it carefully. The pages are old and brittle with elegant but faded handwriting. "The Celestial Wolves were born when the Moon Goddess wept for her children who walked two paths, beast and magic. Her tears fell to earth and blessed those caught between worlds, giving them silver fur and violet eyes. They were meant to be bridges, healers, peacekeepers." My hands start shaking. I flip the page.

Ascena held a faraway look in her eyes, as if she was remembering something long ago, a pert sad smile sat on her lips. The name pricked the ears of my wolf, and he began to pace in my head. He knew something but couldn’t say it. Our animal spirits had been around for thousands of years, being reborn into shifter after shifter. When our human side died, our animal spirits would return to the moon goddess and go into a deep sleep, only being awakened when the moon goddess had a new vessel for them.

Present Day I’m in desperate need of a fucking cup of coffee! It's only ten o clock on a Friday morning and I have no clue how I'm gonna make it all the way to three in the afternoon. I watch as student after student approach the front of my classroom. I try my hardest to concentrate on what they are saying as they each give their thoughts on the book we have just finished reading. Many of the students end their presentation with the phrase stay golden pony boy. I am so glad that they enjoyed the book. Of course they did, a story about a gang of poor orphaned misfits fighting with the well-off rich boys from the other side of the tracks, it was a no brainer. I’m so glad that this book is par
