My heart sank to my stomach and Tomasso stuttered next to me in total shock, “But he gave us his word.” When I saw Allie her eyes wide with fear, I could feel Spirit raging with anger. “NO! We promised to protect them!” She growled. For the first time ever, I couldn’t keep my emotions under control and Spirit took over. I transformed and ran to the stage ready to fight anyone. Allie looked at Spirit and said with a trembling voice, “Please help me!” Spirit was much smaller than reaper but nonetheless, she stood before him and growled, “You gave us your word you wouldn’t harm them!”

“Rise, my lambs. My darlings. Rise.” Cornelius Pritchard came ahead. Smiling. He heard something nearby, and then noticed the ghostly shapes surrounding him in the nighttime mist: dangerous silhouettes materializing, low to the ground, panting, their rough breath jetting. "Nope. Wrong again! My grandmother told me." His voice turned cold. "What are you talking about, you insolent wretch? The First Spirit doesn't just speak to anyone!" Charlene’s smile widened. "So you do know my grandfather is an Original? Good to know." He was fuming now. Energy crackled around him, twisting the clouds into sick spirals.

“Your blood recalls what your mind has forgotten.” Echo’s voice was scarcely audible. “Forgotten what?” “The storm,” the spirit whispered. “And the treachery that severed the moon’s bond.” The room shook. AUTHOR’S POV DIONY EMPIRE Heavy silence reigned in the large hall; everyone on the seat had a worried expression except Nektarios, who had a blank, unreadable face. She wore the same style of Vance robes I’d seen in old portraits.
